Overheating is quite an irritating problem on my 7Hi. i don't have a solution, but my strategy is to carry an extra CF card in my pocket. I'll take out the heated one and while waiting for it to cool down, I pop in the other card.

I've recently bought one of those small computer chip heat-sinks and carry it around in my pocket. It at least helps to dissipate the heat of the card faster.

ya! the heat issue is. hmm dunno what is going on :( it simply heats the CF card too much :( wonder will spoil the CF or not ;(

This 7hi is going to visit the Minolta service centre immediately. Just to share my experience. Thankfully, the camera is still under warranty. (BTW, can I send the camera to Minolta's office at Funan?)

Hmm, thought their service centre is at Funan?

Is it a feature of the Minolta cameras to heat? I noticed that this is not peculiar to just the Dimage 7* series. I've seen the Dynax 7 and it can heat up quite a bit during usage too, sometimes more.

why likdat? mine gf also, 7i, yesterdae went to ubin, kips gettin err.. hai onli 1 week old. how to get it solved. i see all bring to minolta they neva do anithin much?

I never have that problem leh! But then again I dun do 20 rolls in a few minutes lar...... also have never heard of heat issue with Dynax 7 from its users before leh!

Erm hope I didn't start a panic here.

Just to clarify, is the heat issue such a big deal? Even my Canon Ixus V2 heats up around the card area and I suspect other models too. If you do not leave it on all the time, it probably isn't noticeable.

Point is if u are out shooting some animal or waiting to capture a certain pose or just to be ready to shoot while walking the streets, u might have to leave the camera on all the time. Digital cameras need time to power up unlike a conventional SLR where switching it on makes the camera instantly usable..... there's no operating system to bootup! So heat issues still are important!

True, but I don't see the heat building up to such an extent that it would damage any components. In any case, heat may be a concern in the sense that it is energy wasted. :)

Any cure for this ? It normally only occurs when I am focusing ... still cannot put my finger on repeating the problem.

Hope someone finds a solution soon.

I'd a unintended shutdown of the camera (and it's not due to no batt!) <gasp>

was like "oh no! is that the Err?? " but able to boot up properly after that.. oh man.. this is not good, is it?

sent mine in alraedi, the cso seems cmi in his knowledge of his products ..
aniwae, i told him i hope its not juz a firmware upgrade , he sae ok, and wrote, do not upgrade firmware haha
den i clarified and he okok den write duno wad also
anwiae collectin it in a weeks time, let u guys know the outcome...

I have also sent mine up ... but it does not seem to improve.

Apparently, there were some problems with the lens alignment ..... but the problem stilll persist.

they changed the ccd board on mine. doesnt seem to occcure animore. lemme test it this sat ... den get back..

hmm wondering, are we the onli ones gettin this err prob?
if the qty is more than juz this maybe we can write to minolta regarding this issue , else they will juz duno wad to do with the cam when we bring it over, eg seen many issues here, same prob but different solutions , some of which did not solve the error.
does this happens to both the hi as well as the i?

Maybe you can do a poll. :)

Reson that I have not handed my Hi in yet is that Minolta does not seam to have a fix.
I have used both original flash and micro drive, get err on both.
In heat outside, and inside after camera beeing in aircon for many hours, both get err.

Seams to be easier to get camera to work if you start it in the menu mode, then go to picture mode, also display mode before picture mode, to get camera some time to 'wake up' works sometime, but not always. Last time I could not get it to work, I went to film mode, then picture mode and it finally worked.

Error is very inconsistent, Im sure that if I give camera to Minolta it will be OK for 2 weeks, then when I get it back it will start to make trouble again. Really bad that such a good camera have such a basic problem. Real shame.

If you get something out of Minolta please post here.

Thanks a lot!
