Software for sound editing

Hi. I was doing a video shoot for a band at a pub. the music was too loud and it affected the recording. both my mics external zoom have cracking sound.

can someone recommend a good software to correct it? free is best if not then I will pay. hopefully not to expensive. thx guys

I presume your sound clipped. It's nearly impossible to fix clipped sound, but I'm not very sure either. You can try Avid's Pro Tools First or Audacity, both of which are free I believe if you want to edit sound.
