:) Hi there , I wonder how many of you use soft release ? Anyone know where can i get one in Singapore ? I look for help in consumer corner but i guess will be more help here :D

i have 3 soft releases
they are really helpful because it sits nicely in the arch of the finger.
helps to prevent a jerking finger stab on the shutter release when you have to take a photo at slow shutter speeds
highly recommended

Strangely I have 3 too. Agree its useful for slow shutter speeds below the 1/ISO guide. I would have kept it on the shutter release if not for the tendency to trip the shutter when the camera is stored in the bag. Its small enough to lose if you're not careful. But then again, its with me all the time I have my RF with me.

Not too sure if you can find it on b&s. You might get lucky, but I bought it online from Tom Abrahamsson at the rapidwinder.com website instead.

3 seem to be a lucky number :D So aside from online order , is there anyshop sell it ?

i like mine. at first when i put it on, i thought hmm does this really help? now it just feels weird without it. just much nicer action, can hold the cam steadier.

sorry, don't know where to get it here, i got from overseas too

I got mine from Tom Abrahamsson as well, and from Luigi Crescenzi of leicatime.com when I bought some of his leather cases/straps. Tom's looks beautiful (especially the LHSA versions), but I prefer Luigi's, it feels softer.

It definitely trips easily, so one better use the shutter lock.

I use them wherever they can be used. I even put them on Rolleiflexes, trimming to proper diameter some spare Leica ones. I also agree with Tom Abrahamsson on preferring a convex shape.

None of them works properly on the Leica M7, though, not sure about M8 ...

*P.S. Just communicated with Tom Abrahamsson, the Mini-Softies are the ones for the M7 ....

.

had them but they didn't seem to make a big difference to me. It helps on a leica because it raises the shutter release a bit more. On my M2, its kinda sunken, if u know what i mean. But all my other cams aren't threaded and i have no issues with using them in low light. To each his own really. If its worth anything, i much prefer the nikon equivalent.

:D i want to get one cause my finger a bit short, and the shutter button a little low :D I heard that can use the nikon ar-9 instead, but then also dont know where to get the ar-9 :(

Well, every little thing one finds useful can enhance one's photographic experience :). Whatever works is welcome ...

So, to tempt you more, take a look at this :

I only got the Shade, Sfill, and Stead. All can actually be done DIY, it just needs some imagination and experimentation.

I know of a shop that still sells nikon AR-9, but it's greedy price (like $20). If u r willing to pay, PM me.

woa....20$ ah......... i dont think i want one at that price :( Cause last time i check, it's like 8sgd ?

I think CS user:Nitsu had organized a MO for the TA soft-release you could PM him for details. If many are interested, then you can do a MO itself. :)

that was one year ago :( I post a wtb thread then :D

check with TCW. a few years ago, they used to stock a lot of AR-9 and i bought 10+ from them at $5 each. I've since dropped so many i've only got 3 left...

Thanks a lot :D Will check them out.

i find my m6 trigger a little "sunken" as well. to get around the issue, the soft release works really well to reduce camera shake.

i personally like the leciatime one, concave or convex? personal preference... i prefer convex.

update : I got 1 ar-9 for 13 :( TCW dont have

Where can I find the AR-9? Shashinki.com has them but the shipping to SG costs RM40

I don't use it because I can still take reasonably sharp picture in low light and low shutter speed condition... also.. the soft release seem to have a mind of it own... seem to fire off the shutter by it own when it was in the bag... I wasted a few frame of neg / slide because of this...

oh, I'm using a rangefinder... and well, it depend on personal preferance.... I rather not have one on my rangefinder...
