So what is your pay now?

Lower than the Prime Minister.

No one using the classic...

"吃不饱饿不死"

Does it carry demerit pts?
$ seems not a problem for this guy.

Don't think the guy is that rich lah. In all honesty, the bus driver may be "richer" if that bugger has a 10 year loan on his ride.

Depends on when this was asked... and by who.

Its a very sensitive question and its better to just brush off than answer in general.
I've seen so many friends/colleagues let this eat into them once they find out about somebodies pay.

Back to my answer..
1. When I was younger and my pay is certainly the lowest, I'd just say it. :D
2. When I have been around for a while, and since I know the pay bracket of each level, I'd just mention that level.
3. Nowadays, usually still answer like #2 or don't mention.

Ask that colleague back, "What is your salary?" A sensible person will not ask such a private question. If he/she/it asked... then don't need to give face.

I even tell this to someone who asked the same question with this reply,

"None of your bloody business."

I think a smart reply would be 'Much less than what I give to the company' :)

A great answer will be:

It's less than what I donate to charities.

:)

I'll probably reply, "I don't have any pay. Please check with my CFO".

Less than what I deserve ..

If you work in hr like my friend, she doesn't need to ask....

I've always wondered what is HR pay like... like if u see other ppl who are getting more than they deserved and more than yourself, surely u will feel pek chek... LOL

just enough to get-by day to day.

Either pure torture or entertainment.
