I personally find 85mm a good focal length for portrait. On both FF and APS-C sensors, this is usually not too long nor too wide. A reflector was used to lit the subject. Here (http://www.techradar.com/sg/how-to/photography-video-capture/cameras/14-portrait-photography-tips-you-ll-never-want-to-forget-1320980) you can find some tips on how to produce good portraits.
