Snorkling or Diving difficulties

Hi all,

Did anybody wearing spectacle when snorkling or diving in the water?
If not, how to take a photo at the marine, if cant see the marine well.

Pls advise.

Personally, I prefer contact lenses compared to prescription mask.

Because the contact lenses is more versatile and also allow me to see when I'm suiting up, also havent encountered my lenses being washed out even when my mask is flooded.

I have been using contact lenses for more than 10 years now and have been using them for diving as well. When flooding your mask, simply shut your eyes (real tight, pls) and de-fog your mask. I have never heard of anyone losing a contact lens while diving.

The downside to getting a prescription mask, you have to fumble around for your spectacles once you surface.

PK, one thing to watch out for is if you don't regularly use contacts, don't wait till hte last minute to use before going into the water. If it's a new type/brand/medel of disposables to you, also make sure you're already used to it before snorkling with it.

when i first started out, all equipment is rented, so mask not always fitting. Then i realised that spending $40 to get a nice fitting mask really makes the dives more enjoyable since less time needed to clear mask.

You can buy a pack of (30) disposable soft lenses and just use them for snorkeling / diving. After you have the right prescription, they are fairly inexpensive.

i think the hard ones less changes of falling out?

i lost quite a few in the sea already..

Zippsy: I did consider at 1 point to buy daily disposable soft lenses, specifically for diving. Can just throw away the lenses after a full day of diving. Hmm.. Maybe I should reconsider this option. :think:

lovells19: Could be.. I have worn hard lenses for >10 years now and have never experienced my lenses 'popping out'. Unlike soft lenses, my friends have had their lenses 'popped out'. Strange.. :dunno: Especially when most ppl think that hard lenses would have a higher chance of doing so.

I dun think the contacts will pop out even if u open ur eyes..
I open my eyes when i was doing my mask flooding drill back when i was learning...
and surprisingly it doesnt even hurt a bit unlike chlorinated water..

tunnel vision is when u get nitrogen narcosis.. doesn't matter what type of mask you're wearing

It's the view from the mask. Maybe u need to see for yrself.
