Snorkeling with PnS

Sorry if this have been discussed.

I go for 1-3 times a year snorkeling. Underwater housing cost too much and the plastic housing not very secure.
Planning to get one of those PnS underwater camera that says it can go 40 feet under.
From pentax wg2, olympus tz1, nikon aw100, etc.

Anyone own these and can they go in deep to take photos?

I've never used one of those 'bag' before... but I do shoot underwater. While bags like these are suppose to be able to be taken to 40 feet (12m)... the problem is PRESSURE... as you go deeper, pressure increase and your camera will be squeeze like frozen meat in vacuum pack in the supermarket.... this make pressing any any button near impossible under depth... :bsmilie:

Thanks for reply

I am referring to the PnS that says
"One look at the Pentax Optio WG-2 and you know this isn't your average point-and-shoot. It's the camera maker's 13th-generation rugged compact, waterproof down to 40 feet, shockproof to 5 feet, and freezeproof to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It's also crushproof, able to handle up to 220 pounds of force."

220 pounds pressure at 5m test anyone?

Not sure I trust the manufacturer spec. Reviewers all just quote the specs.

Ah... ok. Sorry for the wrong reply, awake since 3:40am for work isn't helping with reading... LOL :bsmilie:

Most of the specs could be trusted and I believe most company would actually under report their specs... just go with abit 'headroom'.. example, if the specs said 12m... till to go only 10m. Example... Canon's underwatet casing is rated to 120 feet (40m). But I know of divers going to 46m with their casing :)

here are some shots i took with a cheap samsung waterproof camera, they are ok & able to do what they are made for the price...
