Hi,

I would like to find out taking Video & Audio Production Course which is a Skill Future course supported, do I need to buy a video camera rather to use a camera to take video.

I take up the course is because my part time job require me to take on video work edit into story. I know how to take video but not editing video which i need to know the skill of video editing and Audio. I have over good active 5 years in photography learning and practicing and I have Nikon D800 and Olympus EM1 with related pro lenses. I was thinking to use these camera to take video then put the video together. When I check on the class room photo they were using Video camera.

Any one can give me some advise whether i really need to buy a video camera to take up the course?

Another problem I faced is the course fee. i took up the Photography courses and used up the S$500 Skill Future $ and I check the account it is not top up yet. I wrote a related e-mail and I got the reply is no fit time to top up the account. Now I am at the fix whether I need to withdraw my application. The Office is not going to pay because it is a non profit organization and I am retired, therefore to pay for the full course even with the subsidized fee still too expensive for me.

Any advise on how the Skill Future fund will get top up? i do not want to get enrolled and get accepted then pay myself then claim the fund not knowing it will be successful. Taking photo and video is my job but I am not being paid for the software or hardware I invested.

This non profit organisation that you work for is not enlightened. Spiritual law states that what you give you get 10 times back in return. (those who believe)Anyway you do what you need to do.

As you have exhuasted your skills credit there is no way to get funded untill the next topup, perhaps when the economic climate changes? If you remember the last recession the gov. funded 100% but not now?

Jesus (christian master) said , Ask and you will recieve, knock and the door will open, seek and you will find".

If you have the heart and intention the universe will find a way for you. Do check with skills future if there is 100% claim if you pay first for the course you take. The rules have changed because of abusers, now the organisers of these skill courses make the claims.

PS don't worry about the video cam, it will work itself out.;)

Thank you one eye jack for the links. So long the new policy is to pay first then claim back then I know the subsidize amount will pay back to me. Hence the investment on my side a lot lower.

I am being paid with the hours I work at the Office and mostly are the IT work. Photography is my hobby and I do not mind work extra hours to edit the photos at home, and now to help to make the web site more popular to draw members, I am willing to help also plus to have more practicing experience. Just that if it is double investment would be beyond my reach. I thought I can just add better mic on my camera and get free editing software I can get the work done. If I need to buy new video camera to attend the video class then I am not able to do it after all I am retired it is my hobby not my career.

Please check and confirm if Skills future does reimburse your course fees (full or partial) if you pay first..you must show proof that you have completed and pass the course as this reduces abuse of the system..

If worst to worse teach yourself the video and audio skills either by reading books or youtube tutorials. Good luck.

You should be checking with the class organizer, whether their lessons are pitched very specifically at video camera/camcorder users, or are they teaching more general principles which can be applied regardless of type of camera. I've seen some courses which specifically state dlsr-video, so that's quite clear. If it's a general class it shouldn't matter. Classroom photo doesn't tell everything. It could simply be what they could pull from their archives/stock library haha. You should ask whoever is running the class. We don't know which class you are looking at.

From the "Announcement" in the webpage, seem from 19 May 2017 the Skillfuture Credit only pay directly to Training Provider.
Understand used to able paid using your own pocket first and reimburse later.

Thank you kandinsky, I need to write to SUSS to find out.

Thank you huatman, so I can just wait for the confirmation from SUSS then pay as instructed. I did ask the school can I still use Skill Future fund and when they will top up? The reply is that they are not SkillFuture fund body and I need to find out from SkillFuture fund. I asked Skill Future fund replied was that no announcement when will top up the fund di not mention whether the SkillFuture fund is still available as government promoted.

I have reply from the school. Candidates need not to have a video camera to attend the course. Hence i can look for better mic or editing hardware if i need to for easier work flow.

Payment wise I am told will only find out by end of June whether I get accepted, then to find out how to pay and claim.
