hmm... i rather wait and see. while i do drool over the 1st gen iPhone (my colleague sitting next to me has the 16GB version), i do really hate the way apple makes users do everything thru iTunes. this is one thing creative got it right - their MP3 players are just like a portable hdd. just click and drag. pity their marketing and design tho...

lets see if the 3G iPhone is worth the fuss... woot. tomorrow is when number portability kicks in! :cheergal:

I'd rather get a SonyEricsson X1 or the HTC Touch Pro. :)

I actually got the new creative zen first instead of the ipod nano, BUT the creative zen has hissing noise (high noise floor) with my sensitive IEMs. Got the ipod nano and it is much better. I used to think the creative mp3 players has better sound quality.

so has anyone reserve from singtel?

Slightly off topic but there are some keen observation which already confirm what I saw whic hI thought my eye were playing tricks on me, but looking at Steve Job's launch of the new iPhone.. some are talking about not just how thin the next gen iPhone would be but how thin looking at Steve..... he has lost a hell of a lot of weight. Some speculation is that maybe his pancreatic cancer might be back or he has caught something. The latest news as release by Apply is that Jobs was abit sick the past 2 wk but he had to do this launch and the antibiotic might have made him thinner if you can belive that. Looking at him he looks like has HIV..he lost way too much weight for 2 weeks. I am wonder how much more news would start to come in as people start to just compare his image photo with just the last public appearance. He is the very foundation of Apple...their visionarian. If he is down...apple will be down too.

it is odd.

I reserved online and the final page got one line saying that I can only reserve at Hello! Singtel. Went over there and was told to either call or reserve online. WTF!?!?! so which is which?

Apparently, the Hello shops have not been informed of the availability of this reservation online... I went over to AMK Hub Hello shop two days ago after being directed by the online reservation page and the store salesperson wasn't aware about it... However she was helpful enough to help me check and managed to place my reservation with their sales and marketing people. She said the sales and marketing people will call me when the stocks arrive... Just for you info... ;)

Wait for the advertisement to come out loh. :bsmilie:

took another look at the online reservation. Now can specify which store also.

does it mean after submitting the form, we still have to go down the hello shop to confirm?

btw can select either 8 or 16 GB? anyone know the price singtel is selling?

Actually IDA have not approved so we also won't know the price for the moment. :sweatsm:

They only have prices for the US.

8GB for US$199 and 16GB for US$299 with 2 year contract at AT&T.

Maybe using this prices you can roughly gauge how much it will cost in SG. :bsmilie:

it would be rather cheap then considering the low US dollar.

Maybe after US currency conversion, the prices here will be slightly higher along with a 2 year singtel contract. Hope they have some kind of a trade-in offer for older phones.

It's cheap if we convert the US dollars right now. Not sure if there is any difference between the US version to the asia version. Heh. I dont wanna buy a brick back home. :bsmilie:

I reserved a 16GB Black iPhone with Singtel at the Ngee Ann City hello! Store.

If you want an iPhone as early as it is available in Singapore [or as close to Singapore's launch day], I really recommend you go down to a hello! store to reserve a unit. You'll need to get a queue number under 'Special Events / Promotion' or something like that. Then, they'll be asking you a few questions.

Some questions that you may be asked include:
-Which unit would you like to reserve?
-Are you a current Singtel Mobile Subscriber? If yes, they'll ask for your mobile phone number, Singtel mobile registered billing name, etc.
-If you are on a contract with Singtel, they'll probably ask if you want to re-contract or keep your current plan. I suspect Singtel may sell the iPhone the same way as, say, a Nokia, in terms of the contract you'll need to get with the phone. [Data plan or voice plan, or both.]

If you want to predict how much you'll need to pay every month for the contract, I think the current service plans by Singtel OR your current Singtel Mobile bill is a good gauge for estimation [we have seen how the contracts abroad can vary from 'really good deal' to 'insane expensive', especially the data plan. So, don't bother looking at them.].

Personally, I really wish they'll bundle unlimited data for free with all their voice plans. But then again, that's just wishful thinking...
