Got this message from our company's IT Helpdesk:

"Due to the strong earthquake at Taiwan (Taipei) , the Telco submarine cables at Taipei were badly damaged and it affected all internet surfing traffic from Singapore to the overseas sites for all Internet service providers including Singnet, Pacific Internet and Starhub."

I can connect to Italy.

But not to US!

I guess we can't complain for blame any one for this connection problem.
Hope they can find the alternative backbone routing soonest.

answers given in previous posts...

how long? guess they need to send survey ships to inspect damages to the cable... think the last time it happened, took them a couple of days to reroute all the traffic to other cables.

Heh... I think I should say why cable is link up to Taiwan and why there? I thought such stuff is thru wireless?? Forgive me.. Im not a IT guy... just feel so curious thou...

Oh yes, remembered that. Cables underwater were damaged. Oh well, must sit down and wait.
