the judges didnt really know what exactly macabre is la. they judge based only of one of the meanings. haha. not their fault though, the theme itself is quite straight forward.

in contrast, let's look at the themes for photomarathon08: change, dream, freedom

quite different in nature right

the theme gives more space and allows you to expand...

macabre is limited. and a harder theme to go around in 3 HOURS...

thats why one is a SYPC and one is a Canon Photomarathon...

serious? haha... how did you'll get all the make up? markers?

actually your photos were good, you guys should have gotten an award at least...

the stuff on his hand is his own blood... he scratched some mosquito bite till it bled so he just used the blood and put it on his hand

The judges said something about the canon photomarathon 2009. Anyone knows where and how to regsiter?

The write up

Macabre, to me, is the fear of fear itself.
As if I fear the fear of being Me, alone…
To fear the horrification that comes from within me.
The primal instincts that make us men,
equal to savages, animals…
Like any creature I bleed, I bleed physically, with not blood alone, but with REGRET.
It seeps, out of my skin, out of my soul, dripping…
Drip, Drip...
And at the end of the day, I’ve left this trail of blood, sweat and tears in my wake, retreat, away from the world that’s weak.
Hide into my shell...

not bad, very nice series.

where was the first picture taken at?

esp like no. 2 of the knife and blood, brings out the meaning.

It was taken opposite the school at the multi storey carpark, some climbing required to get to that spot so be careful, if you fall, it's a 4 storey fall onto concrete so be careful whoever wants to go there.

Glad you liked the shot.
:D

... if you fall, it's a 4 storey fall onto concrete....now that would have been Macabre.......but seriously, its too much of a risk just for a photo competition.....its fortunate that the model is safe.

Haha no worries man, the model had faith in his climbing skills.

Hello everyone,

Thanks for having joined or having an interest in our event (:
We have uploaded the winning entries at our website: http://www.sypc.co.nr/
Do come and give comments if you can :)
For those who could not make it this year or was back at school late, really feel sorry for you guys.

About the difficulty of the theme, it should be tough as this is a team-based competition. 4 people need to work together to tackle a challenging theme. That's more worth it right? If it's too easy and open, what would be the point of forming teams and groups?

yea that was quite not-worthwhile ed,

even if you could have used the money to get your 16-35..

I wonder anyone received a letter from ACS for participate certify?
