Oh, we need?  Guess I better email them. ;p To the CDL enail address? Not to SYPA?

That's actually the only email address I could get off the card. CDL is one of the organizers of this competition anyway, so I guess they would be open to these things. That said we are dealing with busy professionals here. An email would save our saliva and theirs, but I'm not sure if we can guarantee they will open the mail and read it. :bsmilie:

So to CDL not SYPA?

Nah...just call the number. That might be the surest way to do it.

just called sypa. the secretary was f'ing rude.

anyway she just gave me an email address to enquire abt the invitation. wtf.

email: kimleon@cdl.com.sg

:cheergal: Special congrats to the winner of the CDL Young Architecture Photographer Award!!! :cheergal:
:cheergal: (shoot more, more AG Outings, shoot more!) :cheergal:

Hey, did anyone attend the prize-giving ceremony yesterday? I was unable to make it. The results are actually viewable at the SYPA website. I'm aware there's also an exhibition at the SAM starting today...but does anyone know if there are any other pieces on display besides those already mentioned in the results at the website?

Might be going there tonight to have a look see.

After seeing their web site on the result... The winners' photos are great... now i think my pieces don't fit the trash bin anymore, should be burn...

Surely your photos are not worth that little.

One thing's for sure...got a very long way to go. People are already taking photos of windows and I'm still doing buildings! :bsmilie:

Meh, i think the best photographers and the best photo's around are the ones that sometimes are just overlooked by judges and sometimes everyone else's... The best photographers don't really need to win an award, they just need recognition :)

 Maybe...maybe. Anyway, I shall carry on posting crap on DA and wait for the next round of competitions! :bsmilie: See you there, Metal.

Was there with another CSer and bumped into a few there. ;p

Interesting to see the winners' works.

Saw you there, Redstone, as well as many familiar faces... Too bad I only managed to chat with so few.

Nonetheless, for Kin Fei and Yong Yi for winning the top honours. Wish them the best with their mentors!

what do you guys think of the winners' works?
it'd be interesting to discuss.

this one reminds me of an award winning fine artist's work, it's too similar for comfort. but i still rather enjoy it.

i find the photos well-focused, with vivid colours.

were there any photos that captivated you in particular?

I was there too..i liked the "guest photographers" pictures..they were great..though some of the " winners" as per se IMHO are not fit to win..AT ALL:sticktong

I asked, he took this with a P&S and did PS Saturation on it. I liked it.
Did you take part too?

To be frank this one didn't click well with me. The piece is greatly simplified with a very strong point of focus, both of which are its strengths, but I find the colours over-PS'ed. Also the subject matter is a little disturbing, but again, to each his own. As far as we all know now, the judges liked it. I might want to learn to do something in this genre in the future.

:bsmilie: Maybe I'm reading in between the lines. But perhaps the colours were a little too vivid sometimes? Of course in the end it's down to personal preference. Some like it really saturated and others might prefer more natural tones.

Again, vivid colours and clinically good focus shouldn't be the thing that wins the competition.
