I am surprise, isn't that the normal? At least for the companies that I had enquired last time....
In general, this is normally what they do, they will be there for the whole day, but depending on the event happening, the final Raw footage might only be 2-3hrs worth. After editing, it will normally be about 2hrs worth. I find this is reasonable mah...
Just wondering how much footage you captured for a normal AD wedding event? After editing how long is the final footage? full 10 hrs like taken from CCTV?![]()
I see, so the final product that you give your customer is a 8-10 mins full day highlights + about 2 hrs edited footage? And the 5 to 10 hrs raw footage will be given also?Hi hi,
Just sharing our production perspectives...
Most of our wedding projects are handled by 1 videographer and we usually end up with 5-6 hrs worth of footage for a normal wedding day. For weddings with church ceremony, we'll end up with much more as we always run 3-cams at the church by 2 videographers. E.g. the bridal march-in can be edited much better with shots from several different angles with full continuity, instead of just 1 single frontal shot tat makes even 3 sec of it seems like eternity. The max we ever got from a single-day wedding shoot was really 10 hrs worth of footage!
This unlimited shooting approach gives us tons of good footage which we can work with when we produce the highlights or the "raw footage". Hence better quality works. We also work towards capturing spontaneous conversations/dialogues that aids in telling the wedding-day story (in my opinion, this is the most challenging part).
Our express highlights of the morning proceedings are approx 3-5 min. Our full-day highlights range 8-10 mins. We limit the edited "raw footage" that is delivered to the couple to between 1- 2 hrs.

Oh, we don't believe that the 5-10 hrs of raw footage will be of any value to anyone. Hence we do not give it out.
But I'll say it is like having the 100+ hrs of footage from 1 episode of the Amazing Race instead of watching the fully edited 1 hr version. Haha...
The main man hr costs of a good wedding video is always in the post-production, not the capturing.
