I love this series. You have good eye for good composition. Keep them coming.

Is it ok to OT one pic? (Since this is a land/city scape thread)

I met this woman near chinatown. (Sorry to those who don't understand chinese. The chinese sentence in the pic is what the woman asked : "Young man, can you give me $2?")

She told me she walked from Orchard to Chinatown. hmm.. I'm thinking, actually I also walk from orchard to chinatown. Haha.. but she older. nothing to say.

So, I gave her $2 and asked her to be my model. But she kept asking if i'm a reporter and if I will post it in the newspaper.

Anyway, in the end, she's happy with the $2, I'm happy with my pic.

So, here's the picture that cost me $2 :

Yup.. she's local judging from her accent..

I saw her from afar walking in my directions and I was attracted by her outfit, so I lingered around hoping that I can take a closer snap of her..

But.. little that I know, she came up to me and asked me for 2 dollars.:bsmilie:

enjoyed your photos. great shots (:

Wonder if it will be better if I crop more of the top and bottom away..

yes, i think so. make the zig zag into single parallel obliques. it simplifies the composition and will bring out the distant subject, i think. but i'll leave it to your imagination or further crop/post

thanks for the suggestion. I tried doing that and it does bring out the subject more but its a little bit tight due to the alignment.

But I guess I should have consider more about the alignment while doing that shot since its a planned shot and I have more than enough time.

Hi Yun,

ever thought about starting a SG walkabout Blog?

I think your perspective is unique and you can present SG in your own way .. maybe perhaps main areas first .. then later on the outskirts perhaps even the islands .. occasionally festivals/parades .. etc

food for thought :)

Nice Pics!! u got a unique perspective and style... very inspiring... :)

I have never thought of that before. But this is a very interesting idea to think about. Its also a good way to take lots of pictures and practice too.. actually my perspective is quite limited too.. I've just been looking at how others take picture, learn, then tweak here and there for a different perspective :bsmilie:

Your suggestion definitely gave me something to think about and something to work towards to in the future. Thanks! :D

thanks hippolilo! actually I got inspiration from other people here.. :bsmilie:

to be honest, I'm still struggling with the basics.. tend to forget about the settings after taking a few pictures.. happily snapping away with the wrong settings.. :embrass:
ISO, shutter speed, aperture... argh.. sometimes will feel that actually auto mode pictures are much nicer than my settings.. :bsmilie:
