Singapore Virgin

I'm trying to get a spotlight effect feel on this pic. Not too sure if this works.

it depends, i guess. if you're going for a more natural feel on this one, then this vignetting is probably way overdone.

it seems acceptable to me, but i have a very warped ruleset on what goes and what doesn't, so maybe you might want to ask others about this aspect.

that red is nice, and the reflections add a special touch to the shot.

what i am going to quibble about, however, is the space to the right and left of the picture, those doors on the left and right are a wee bit tight. if the columns are uniform, which i remember they are, you can well afford a wee bit more space to avoid a "cramped" feel about the picture.

Same as Redsun and aloskimo, i pretty like the processing too.

You may like to consider a little crop to remove the blackspace on the left since it doesn't seems to help in the frame.

Same for this shot. The top curve is cut off compared to the curve on the right (got a little space).

Also, for landscapes, especially with the sea, try to avoid the sea horizon tilting (ideally not to frame it) when you need to do creative angles.

I feel you have good potential in terms of angles and perspective.

Keep it coming~ :)

I like your creativity, me going to try it out with different angles soon...

U brought the inspiration out of me...

Ya, i feel that the colour, angle and composition is good... (at least better than i..)

May i know what lens are you using? And what did you PP for those shots? Looks very clean and clear to me...;)

hmm.. I must admit that I did not consider whether I want to go for a natural feel. But the feel I'm trying to get is like in some movies, the eyes(camera) will be on a particular person and everything else darken. Like to show that you only focus on something and nothing else matters.

I guess you are right on the "cramped" feel from the left and right. There's actually more space, but I cropped them away due to the distortion from the wide angles. btw, I read this from your guide. :sweatsm: haha..

thanks!

I'm using tokina 11-16mm.

I did a few things on this shot.

I also quite new to photoshop, I dunno if I used the terms correctly.

I wanted to focus on the center door. So,

1) I added a little blur and masked out the center door. I think I sharpen a little too.
2) I reduced the red on the walls to bring out the red on the doors.
3) I wanted a darken feel, so I darken the whole image with a layer of black, masking the center door.
4) Then I added vignette.
5) Then I added light effects using omni to the center door.

I think.. That's all I did. :D

Is it ok to OT one pic? (Since this is a land/city scape thread)

I met this woman near chinatown. (Sorry to those who don't understand chinese. The chinese sentence in the pic is what the woman asked : "Young man, can you give me $2?")

She told me she walked from Orchard to Chinatown. hmm.. I'm thinking, actually I also walk from orchard to chinatown. Haha.. but she older. nothing to say.

So, I gave her $2 and asked her to be my model. But she kept asking if i'm a reporter and if I will post it in the newspaper.

Anyway, in the end, she's happy with the $2, I'm happy with my pic.

So, here's the picture that cost me $2 :
