Anyone to recommend a good spot for zone 4 to take photos of the cars racing down the track?

Anyone have an idea about the focal length restriction for this year? I understand that last year it was restricted to 300mm but looking at this year's FAQ.PDF it says the racing organizer can restrict whatever camera you can bring in.

this year the restrictions are stricter than last year... this year i'll be working for SGP..i think it's like no extremely professional stuff or something like that?

IIRC, professional recording equipment can't be brought in. ie. video recorders like the NEX-VG10. so possible, gotta prove first that it's not done for professional gain...

I have an Oly 70-300mm lens then on my body will be 140-600mm.
This focal length still allowed?? :dunno:

Preferably soemwhere of lower speed so i can capture the cars more easily. Not tat good in skills yet. :sweat:

Try turn 17/18. The one before helix bridge, also known as bay zone area.

Thanks! I asked on Facebook about it and they said they disallow tripods/monopods. :dunno:

I understand the tripod but the monopod? Lighting would be awful so why restrict the mono?

Last year I went in with monopod. No one stop me. Not sure about this year. Anyway, I will still bring my monopod.

They said no monopods in grandstands. Did you bring it into the grandstand?

i think they will only look at the lens only. Last yr they checked my lens but it was only 18-105, so i was allow thru.

If your equipment is deemed professional, then u have to sign a non-commercial photo form.

These days alot of people are owning 5D mark II, 1D mark III and 1D mark IV, Nikon D3 and D3s, if they restrict people owning them then alot will have to go home to leave their cameras at home. Esp in the DSLR era becoming affordable for many, they will find it hard to restrict people from bringing in such equipment. However they may block all the good potential unblocked areas to prevent overcrowding at a certain area.
