For food, I usually try to go for a "clean look", hence the white background. Also because most of my plates are white.
But of course is not absolute, I will have different look ones coming up.

That's interesting. I want to share with you this piece of advice that I saw.
"To give your photos a vintage or ‘softer’ feel, you can even try backlighting the dish with natural light so as to create a ‘washed out’ effect."
