Hey i got a silly question , how do each of you handle your lens? Say ...

You need a wide angle , 17-35 ..

but u also need a zoom handy say .. 70 -200

How would you do it given the constraint of 1 body on hand .. and you need to bounce around and cover the fast pace event?

Answers can be on bags/vest/belts/ or whatever you all use. but must be mobile.

cheers
Jazer

Disclaimer: I'm not a pro, but I think I can answer this question.

1) A lowepro stealth reporter might work for you, with it's easy to reach top opening, you can easily retrieve a lens and change immediately and have it within your bag again. At least a 300/400 would be easy to achieve this, I find the 200 too small to let my hand go in and retrieve a 70-200 or 17-35 easily (not as if I have one anyway :dunno: )

2) Photographer's vest, Nikon has a photographer's vest that should be able to put in as long as a 70-200 into it's pocket and allow you to move around freely. Note: It's not those that you get FOC or buy $20 from Buy/Sell, I have one of those, only a 50 1.8 barely made it into the pockets

3) Lowepro Belt system, can always buy extra len casings and affix on the belt, easy to reach & change lenses.

4) The lesser ideal for amatuers, have two bodies :D

major OT
 espn has 2 bodies?!?

any kind of bag configuration that u can sling in front of your body will do. i use a converse bagpak that can be carried 4 ways (backpack, side sling. cross sling, hand carry) and throw everything inside..including food n water n wallet and hp and pen n paper n etc...

u mean u throw the abovementioned things into your converse bag, with your 70-200 f2.8L???

roughly arrange the stuff (there are inner pockets can be made use of) will be ok.

Cool beans , thanks guys.

Not as if i have these lenes but just wondering how one would do it.

  2 bodies , how tempting .. but no deal man.

The Vest is out , cos it looks really tacky.
The Belt system sounds cool , like Army Issued SBO.
The Stealth pro sounds viable .. think i will go and check out the web-site or something.

Any other options?

guess for fast access to ur gear, can't beat a belt or sling bag. but, dun discount a vest, even tho it may look tacky. i've seen a few pros who have all their necessary gear attached or stored away in their vest. always amazes me seeing them fish out their lens from seemingly out of no where. ;)

2 bodies is very un-ergonomic. serious. last tiem in NUS i have shot low light (as dark as funkamania that kind of low light) mass audience event and i was carrying (i) eos2+pbE2+flash+70-200/2.8L and (ii) another eos3+pbe1+flash+28-70L and (iii)backpack and...u really feel like a dangling saucepan seller.

So a vest looks tacky, an a pseudo army SBO looks cool... right...

Frankly, I use whatever works best, whether it looks tacky or not. Although obviously if you can do the job just as well and look good while doing it, then fair enough, but certainly not at the compromise of quality.

hahha .. ROTFL .. :sweatsm:

Thanks for the feed back guys ! Much appreciated .. Anyone any more comments feel free to put up your 2 cents !
