So you own 2 D3s?! Wow, you are loaded man!:bsmilie:

Fire Kirin,
No, I have only one D3 and the other is Fuji S5. I find carrying two cameras is a burden but it is worthwhile when comes to taking photos under certain circumstances. Example in the Dunhuang desert, besides considering the dust, there is no way to change lenses when you are riding on a rocking camels.
Thanks.

My kind of preferred configuration also. I would have also brought my D3 and S5 pro with me. Then, looked, we would have the same gear.

Fire Kirin,
So coincidence we have the same cam bodies, not sure if we have the same lenses? besides Nikon, do you carry third parties lenses? We both can enjoy outings for Nikon and Fujifilm! I just went to the Fujifilm outing at the ChinaTown (actually not organised by Fujifilm themself). You might want to visit the threads at the Forum Fujifilm to find out more, quite interesting....

A prefecture-level city in Gansu province, Zhangye forms China's border with Mongolia. In ancient days Zhangye has earned quite a reputation as a commercial port along the Silk Route. One of the tourist attractions in Zhangye is the Giant Buddha temple. Easily accessible from the Location of Zhangye Hotel in Zhangye, Giant Buddha temple is one of the biggest sculptures of Nirvana Buddha. Built in 1098, the site of the Giant Buddha temple is believed to be the place where the Wei Mie, a renowned master, discovered the gold statue of sleeping Buddha. The existing Giant Buddha Temple comprises Grand Buddha Hall, Scripture Tower and the Earth Tower. The famous giant Buddha, which lends its name to the temple, is 34.5 long and 7.5 meter wide. Giant Buddha Temple is visited by many Chinese and International tourists every year.

I would bring my following lenses:

1 80-200mm f2.8 ED.
2. 17-35mm f2.8.

And/or maybe 85mm 1.4 or 105 f2.8.

Just three lenses. Already too heavy.:bsmilie:

Brilliant and enjoyable pj, thanks for sharing. Too many good images to mention, but I like #28 it's not unlike a cabbie at the airport and #12 the visual of the sheet skin against the pretty bride is so diametrically opposing for me, it works!

Jamesc,
Thanks for viewing and comments. You are a good observant, #12 also shows the bridegroom hiding behind the sheep skin raft keeping away from the camera.

#72. Bell and Drum Tower of Jiuquan (酒泉钟鼓楼)
Bell and Drum Tower is located at the center of Zhangye(张掖)City, where four main streets converge. The tower also known as Jingyuan Tower is the largest well preserved tower in Gansu Corridor (the historical route in Gansu province, passing Lanzhou, Wuwei, Zhangye, Jiuquan, Dunhuang).
Bell and Drum Tower was built during the Ming dynasty (A.D. 1507). The 30-meter-high base of the building is made up of brick: 32 meters in width and 9 meters in length.
The tower consists of three-tier wood-pyramid structure that has delicate design and majestic model. It is definitely a traditional ethnic architecture building of China.
After stepping at the top of the tower, you will find four traditional Chinese carved panels covered with brush calligraphy of famous artists.
The clock tower is situated on the southeast of Bell and Drum Tower, which was used for time telling or fire alarming. The clock tower owns a height of 1.3 meter and diameter of 1.15 meter, weighing more than 600 kilograms. The most important thing is the clock tower was made up of copper alloy. Therefore, it produces sonorous jow that can be heard in every corner of the whole city.

# 73. Luminous cup (夜光杯)- a visit to the factory outlet.
Yeguangbei (literally, the night-glittering cup) is a special jade product of Jiuquan, Gansu Province. Since very ancient times, the Qilian Mountains of Gansu have produced a beautiful jade of brilliant white, green, black and yellow colours. Local artisans grind and polish it into wine cups either of a pure colour or of mixed colours. They are of various forms, wine cups with stems, flat-bottomed cups, and cups with cut designs, all marked by a simple and elegant taste. They are all the more cherished because they stand sudden contact with extreme heat or cold. Legend says that King Mu (c. 10th century B.C.) of the Zhou Dynasty once drank with this cup and found it glittering snow-white in the moonlight. It was then named the "night-glittering cup". It became more famous after the Tang Dynasty poet Wang Han sang of it in the following lines: Grape wine in luminous cups shine. As we raise them to lips the lute strikes up fast. Laugh not if we fall drunk on the battlefield. Tell us how many ever returned from the war. Jiuquan has today a well-established factory specializing in the making of such "luminous cups". Nowadays visitors to the town, apart from seeing Jiayuguan Pass, the western end of the Great Wall, all wish to make a tour of this factory, buying a few cups as a souvenir.
