Sigma Mount Converter MC-11 adapts Sigma lenses to E-mount supports PDAF

I had it, it could be firmware issue which could be updated or fix like metabones but it definitely works better than commlites or sub brands. Got it and used it on canon's 70-200 F4 which focus very fast and silent but as expected it will suffers hunting with long range lens be it fast aperture or slower ones. Yet you get the option of either using native A mount lens with La Ea adapters or go with sigma mc-11 to use sigma, canon and other 3rd party base lens. If somebody is keen to test and have some long range canon mount Sigma lens or Canon's lens I be happy to go for test drive, if you google youtube there's alot of shorter focal length lens which works very fast without problems!

It works for Canon native lenses?.. I had thought it's only compatible with Canon mount Sigma lens...

you think wrongly, to drive a lens with motor it must have a +5v,-5v,Gnd,Tx,Rx and whatever the contact of the lens stands for. + and - 5v example is usually to supply power from the camera to lens while TX and RX is the transmitting and receiving of info to and from lens. So logically it is abled to allow sony Emount cameras to send whatever they want as in like focusing to the sigma or canon lens via the MC-11 or metabones hence the ability to lock focus will be quite slow!

Wow... So technical haha...

The af behaviour i observed on sigma mc-11 with sigma 120-300 sport seems to be a overall sigma lens issue. I played with my friend's sigma 30mm f1.4 which is e mount. The behaviour is similar to the one I observed on the adapter. It only focus on the centre. If I use flexible spot at corner, it cannot focus as well, I do notice there is instant that it attempt to try to focus at the centre.

I just got this adapter last weekend and tried it with three Canon EF-mount lenses I have.

24-70 f2.8 II and 70-200 f2.8 II IS - AF-S focus lock-on is insanely quick for both lenses. Both lenses track very well in AF-C on a fixed point. AF-C does not work in video mode for both. You don't get the fancy zone or eye AF. My A7R2 locks up when shooting in hi-continuous burst but not in lo-continuous. The biggest difference compared with the other adapters on the market can be seen when you use 200mm on the 70-200. With the Kipon, the lens would only focus if you helped it by getting near correct focus. And even then, it was not 100% that it would work. Heck, I would say that the MC11 and 70-200 combo is better than than the native e-mount 70-200 F4 at the same focal length when it comes to focusing.

Sigma 35mm f1.4 Art - Updated to latest firmware from 2014 but note there is no firmware yet for the lens to work specifically with the MC11. In AF-S, the camera hesitates a little bit before locking to the target but it's very small, like it's confirming something. Tracking is accurate. AF-C in video can work either way. The lens constantly works the focus motor to ensure a good lock. However, this makes a very obvious sound like cak cak cak cak cak can be picked up by the onboard mike or any mike mounted above it. Changing focus to a new point is a bit slow but the end result is accurate.

To me, that this lens works so well with the two most common fast Canon zooms makes it worth the $338 I paid. I will wait judgement on the Sigma 35 until the lens firmware is updated for it.

Cool.... Af quick ma?...

quick enough though should lose to canon's native body by split second la and since some ART lens are not available for A-mount
