Sigma Lens for NEX-5N

Standard threshold of shutter speed to avoid camera shake before any form of stabilization is 1/focal length. So at 250mm need 1/250 shutter speed. I tink from 1/60 to 1/250 is more than 3 stops so stabilization won't be much help.

Btw, at 55mm should be able to get f5.6.
how do you get more than 3 stops from there? also 1/focal length was based on film days, now with crop, you have to factor that in too.

Yup, you need even faster shutter speeds with APS-C.

Wow. Indoor at 250mm will need to use at least ISO6400 to achieve speed of 1/250s liao!

Nooo need ! ...the magic solution is called a ....TRIPOD ! :bsmilie:

SIAM AH!!! The main purpose of me getting a good camera is to capture photos of my kids. PnS cameras simply cannot make it. When I am out with them, my Timbuk2 Snoop Camera will carry 2 waterbottles, 2 sets of spare clothes, wet tissues, dry tissue and ipad. Now that I have gotten a EA2 adaptor and most likely will add on 1 extra lens in the bag, I will die if I bring along my tripod too! Haha...

I wouldn't buy that lens for shooting kids. Get a fast normal prime.

Actually I am planning to get a Sigma 30 F1.4 as well...

I myself owns Siggy 30mm for nikon mount.
Hv yet to buy lens attachment for it ...

Not sure but will the SLT helps in fast focusing? I was trying the A35 and to be frank, focusing is damn fast. The camera will just focus to anywhere that I point the lens to without needing me to half press the shutter.

a few ways to come about this problem
1) fast tele lens if you are looking at 70-200mm range, you can get f2.8 lens (2.8 is 3 stop faster than the 6.3 lens which means you can shoot at ISO800 instead of ISO6400)
2) fast prime lens like f1.2.. very shallow DoF but nice bokeh
3) flash
4) tripod (but only on static subject)
5) image stabilizer can do probably 3 stops (again only on static subject)

28-75/2.8 no need. U already have 17-50 and 70-200 both at 2.8. De small gap between 50-70 u just adjust urself by taking a few steps forward/backward. If 30/1.4 ex, de DT 35/1.8 should be sufficient.

Does the LA-EA2 actually have a fast motor?

Tried it at the Alpha 4 event, 5N with the EA2 and 50 f1.8 feels as fast as an A55 with the same lens.

PDAF used to be the fastest AF system, but after having tried the latest M4/3 system, I'm not that sure CDAF is behind. However the SLT's PDAF has an edge in low light AF performance.

The A35 was set to eye detect AF, thats why you did not have to half press the shutter.

I also have 5n and sigma 17-70 hsm os... And i want the new adapter.
But recently sigma announced that most of the lenses(included the 17-70) doesnt work on a65-77.... And it will need a firmware upgrade in the lense!

Question: will de in-lens stabilizer in 3rd party lens work with ea2?

CDAF is still slower, tho not much as seen on the EP3 but its slower.. The fastest AF now is claimed by nikon 1, combining PDAF & CDAF. They claimed its even faster than D3s
