Should be about $380-$400 thereabout. You can check out the retailers listed in the price list.

value for money, ok..
but it hunts a lot, especially in low light and because it doesn't have SSM/HSM/USD whatever the focusing is very slow.
for macro and still subjects is very good and sharp but very tough to shoot on small moving subjects as birds, butterflies, etc, before you can focus your subject is gone already :bsmilie:
when I got my sigma 18-250 w/ HSM, I dont feel like using this lens already...
If only this got HSM, the best already because of macro function which is very useful..

This lens is selling for $283 including shipping from Tin Cheung. Still considering whether to get this or the 150-500 which is selling for less than $1200 shipping included.

You should read this buying guide regarding the warranty for buying lens in Hong Kong. http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=635497&highlight=hong+kong

Grey set or local sets will affect the warranty that Sigma Singapore will honour. For a $100 difference, its much safer to buy locally as you can get to test the lens. If you are going to HK, by all means get a copy as you can physically test it. Also to check for the warranty card details.

the macro version has an additional macro switch which can only be enabled at 200-300mm. good for macro shots of flowers.

a moon shot taken at 300mm

did this moon shot apply any tele-converter on 300mm??

or when shoot at 300mm...did turn on the Macro switch?

because mine 1 totally can not get that sharp... :(

No teleconverter. Macro is off. Just the lens mounted on a tripod. exif: 1/320, f6.3, 0 EV, ISO 100. Manual mode. Convert to b/w. It was taken on a cloud free night. Its cropped and sharpened. Noise is visible after sharpening. To get real close, you need a much longer lens.

Hope the settings help.

The water drops looks ok. Just close enough to see the ripples.

The flowers and insects can be closer. If you are hardcore macro fan, a dedicated macro lens will be better. Or you can try to get the raynox dcr250. You can find 2nd hand for about $100 in the buy an sell section.
