Sigma announces 35mm f/1.4 DG, 17-70mm f/2.8-4 DC OS, 120-300mm f/2.8 DG OS lenses

Which service centre you go to test the lens? Location at?

Looks like the new 120-300mm is finally available in local stores.

seems like only a few pieces and not all stores have it yet... or maybe there is a long queue for it at my usual funan store so havent receive call yet :(

4.2k is quite an ok price? Isn't it usd3599 in the states at B&H? This makes the sg price seems attractive

Anyone bot the new Sigma 120-300 yet? How is it in handling? Does the price include the usb device?

price should exclude the usb device.

from what i know it is sold separately in stores about 70-80 bucks

dropped by Sigma Svc Centre at Redhill earlier today to have a feel of the 120-300.

Really solidly built lens, much better than any other older super teles for Sigma that I have handled before.

lens is rather heavy, does not feel very handholdable for long periods of time on my 1Dx, perhaps better used with a monopod.

Image quality wise, I could only really test it indoors in the Sigma svc centre as it was all hazy outside, but really sharp indoors under artificial lighting. Not a good test though...wish I could bring it out for a quick tour.

here is how the lens looks like on my 1Dx. shot by a samsung s3, so please do not complain about the IQ haha.

Nice lo..Richard. i was in hurry and didnt try it out. Alot of switches too..becoming more like an aircraft in next generation of lenses.

When researching online, it seems the new "120-300mm F2.8 DG OS HSM | S" has the same optical formula as the previous version. Based on this, is it fair to say the IQ won't change? and that the sharpness will still be an issue at f/2.8?

What factors will tempt you to buy this latest S version instead of the previous version? I was checking with some of the shops, price difference is alot - ~$2.8k vs $4.3k...

Well the ability to use the dock to calibrate AF, AF speed, OS, customer function button, better build, weather seal, newer lens with better sigma quality control. (Fingers crossed).

Btw I tot it is 3.6k(0ld hsm OS version) vs 4.3k for the new sport version. 700-800 diff for the new features

Well, I guess they're trying to clear the older version thus dropped to $2.8k... it makes this lens more attractive.

To me, sharpness at f/2.8-f/4 and AF speed are critical factors for this lens. Other bits (eg, weather seal) I can do without. Doubt anyone would have both versions to compare/review the sharpness & image quality though...

anyone bought the 120-300 sport version yet and care to share their views / samples?

Hi guys, just tried the Sigma 35 f1.4. Kinda of disappointed as the picture quality was not there when the lens was hook up to the 5D mkiii. I believe it has back focusing problem. But even after miro adjustment , the focusing was just not consistent. Wanted ask if anyone of you had expereienced this for the 35mm as I thought it was more prominent for the 50 f1.4. Wonder if it is a copy issue? But at the same time I am not convinced as there are tons of excellent review on this superb lens....
