Sigma 70-200 f2.8

I used to owned a EX DG APO version for A mount before I jumped to Canon;
all I must say- its' image output is as sharp as a Canon 70- 200mm f/2.8 L which I'm owning 1 piece now.
Focusing speed is slower than Canon version as Canon version have the USM.
I sold it to my fren and he is very happy with the lens's performance.:thumbsup: :thumbsup:

ps:- My migration to white side was completed.

I never had fond impression of Tamron, Sigma is my preferred choice. Moreover the new Tamrom lens doesn't look nice...very old-fashioned and manual-like.

For the 70-200 you have, since it doesn't have HSM, is it noisy when zooming?

Not really noisy, just a little only but its' focusing speed is fast and accurate.:thumbsup: :thumbsup: :thumbsup:

First off, congrats to your migration! Saw your Canon lens line-up, pretty impressive.

Seems like the Sigma 70-200 have very good feedbacks and I l feel that this lens would meet my needs.

Called John3:16 (Samuel) the other day, asked for the same lens with Macro version and was advised by him to get Minolta G lens instead...wah....burnt damage is about 2.7K. :bigeyes:

That's a dream lens...but I think i'm contented with the Sigma. ;p

My friend says that he owned the Sigma 70-200 2.8 HSM version?! Whereas some of the posts here say it is a new to be launched lens!? (refer to the adorama link too). Anyone used the HSM version too before of this Sigma lens?? cheers.

What mount is your friend using? As mentioned before in this thread.. The Sigma 70-200 f2.8 does indeed has HSM but only for the Nikon and Canon mount.

For the Konica Minolta/Sony mount sigma 70-200 f2.8, there is no HSM version yet. (or not that we know of..)

I didn't know that the version for KM/Sony doesn't have HSM until I posted this thread.
But its very misleading coz' Dyxum.com featured the same lens with 'HSM' in the picture.

And some other review sites also featured a similar pic with HSM on the lens.

Yes, you're right guys....my friend had the HSM version of the Sigma 70-200 2.8 in the canon mount. bought from b&s at $900 then sold at $850. Anyone who has nikon mount of this can look me up if interested to sell...!?!!
