Leica 45mm f2 for portraits. That is on the list too.
3 Leica lens for 4/3s mount?
I thot there was only the 25mm and the 14~50mm... :dunno:

I will, Leica 25mm is on the way in Dec!
Hey Hacker,
The articles i read all point towards the lens being available from April '07 onwards...
Where did u get the info that it'll be avail in Dec?![]()
I was under the impression that the 50mm f2.0 is good for "portraiture" as well???
Vitamin M is not say a lot lah, but save long enuff eventually will reach the required amt i guess...![]()
So u mean the Leica 25mm is BETTER for portraiture shots? Cos i intend to take potrait-shots...
Another query, i've read somewhere that a "50mm lens is called the normal lens becos it gives the closest perspective as seen by the human eye..."
SO... given the x2 multiplier factor on our Oly bodies, is it the Leica's 25mm (x2 = 50mm) or the ZD's 50mm (x2 = 100mm) that is to be considered the "normal lens with closest perspective as seen by human eye..."??? :dunno:
Sorry if this has been asked before... AND i've used the Search function liao, din turn up anything.
Regards,

ya.... 50mm is so called the normal lens for portraiture shots.. so as u said... leica will give u 50mm. but the ZD 50mm can give u nice protrait shots also... just stand further a bit lo. :bsmilie:
this lens CAN be sharp from sigma, i've seen a friend's copy that made me keel over at it's sharpness even wide open, HOWEVER, the QC from sigma is a little off, u need to really test the lens to make sure that you get a good copy.
statments substantiated from speaking to retailers and having handled a couple of them myself. it's a lens that i want to buy, so i will always itchy fingers go play with them whenever i'm at any store, but i've got other purchases first, this is really quite last priority. will still own it eventually. for that price, can't really go wrong! :thumbsup:
btw, i assume this sigma (as in the glass and the image quality) is the same for 4/3 system or nikon mount, becos i only had experience with the nikon mount version.
back to the images posted here, i TOTALLY agree with streetshooter. TOTALLY. :thumbsup:
Thanks!
So... is the "50mm normal lens" considered as BEFORE or AFTER taking into account the Oly bodies' x2 multiplier factor?
All Zuiko Digital lenses are designed to give the standard 35mm full frame Field of view (FOV). ZD 50mm f2.0 is designed to be used as a 100mm equivalent FOV, not 50mm nor 75mm etc.
For example:
40-150mm = 80-300mm 3.5-4.5 :: 70-300mm 3.5-5.6
35-100mm = 70-200mm f2.0 :: 70-200mm f2.8
50mm = 100mm f2.0 :: 90mm f2.8
50-200mm = 100-400mm f2.8-3.5 :: 100-400mm f4.5-5.6
:: = equivalent existing ff camera lens
Generally, I think the Sigma zooms will not be comparable to the ZD lenses. But the primes, might still be ok for general shooting. Whereas, the High Grades (mid range) ZD lenses has already out perform what the sensor can capture. That is looking forward. The glass quality between Sigma and ZD lenses are pretty far apart naturally.
Ultimately, I am prepared to accept the relative optical weakness of the lens in comparison with the 50mm ZD.
Here is one more sample:

Thanks for sharing mate.![]()
