U have deals to get @ a cheaper price?

I was hoping someone here could mass order or get from a dealer and hopefully a better price :s

the lens should be sharp at 1.4, very sharp by 2.8

my test samples with full resolution jpeg straight from camera no retouch or resize

However I returned mine because it would not focus consistently on my primitive focusing system of the Canon 350D. I also found the edge sharpness not that great. There is also a little barrel distortion - I expect from a zoom or a wide angle prime, but a 'standard' prime? To be fair only noticable shooting brick walls - bad habit by the way!!

Resolution is amazing when focused - I will get this again when I can afford the Canon 550D with it's more sophisticated focusing system

In the meantime I will be getting the Sigma DP1s which is cheaper than the Sigma 30mm f1.4 and comes with a camera - I know it can't do 1.4 but it is also a very decent prime lens extracting bucket loads of detail while i save for my 550D... could be 600D by the time I have the cash!!

guys for the sigma 30mm f1.4, the manual focus ring once its reaches the limit, the ring is able to trun continuously? it does "stop" at the range of distance when u MF? thanks!

Add can be found online, their website.
Both shops are good. Sigma from Tin Cheung is always grey set. wing Shing is ori set.

Try not to get from Tin Ch**** because my warranty was not honoured by our local distributor as it is grey set from HK. Parts are free but not the labour and service charged by Sigma Marketing in Singapore.

Hi all, I'll be heading over to HKG next month and I am intending to get the 30/1.4 there. I may or may not have the time to test the lens over in HKG for focusing issues. Therefore, I would need to buy it from a shop that would provide a warranty card/receipt that is honoured by Sigma Singapore, should there be a need for me to send it in for calibration.

I've read through the past few pages of this thread and there are differing views on whether the warranty that comes with the lens bought from TC is recognised by Sigma Singapore. Could someone who bought the lens from TC and sent it for calibration in Singapore clarify please? Thanks!

Just calibrated my lens few days ago, now very sharp even at open wide.

I bought my lens from HK and it has international warranty.
But Sigma SG told me that they only honour the parts only, the labour you still need to pay (e.g. for calibration you need to pay $80).
So I argue, from the customer point of view, how do we know if the shop in HK is sigma official/non-official since the lens comes with international warranty?
At the end, she allowed me to calibrate my lenses (30mm + 50mm) for free... but she mentioned next time I have to pay for the labour.

Also, she mentioned that if the lens bought in SG, the warranty would be 2.5 years (instead 1 year if bought in HK).

I see, thanks for the info! Since you said that your lens has 1 year international warranty, does it mean that it is not a grey set?

Assuming you bought it from TC, if we pay cash there the price that we have to pay is actually lesser than the price mentioned on their website am I right? Care to share with me how much you bought it for?

I am not sure grey set/not but sigma sg do accept the international warranty (cover spareparts but not the labour for 1 year).

I asked my friend to buy the lens... he is using credit card and the price is same with the website. Cash should be cheaper.
Have not paid my friend yet as he said need to wait the CC bill...

I bought one last night at MS @ S$730 plus a $40 Hoya Filter. Must say I am already impressed with the quality.

Went straight to the hospital from there to have a look at a new born niece of mine and was able to snap some nice shots without using flash.

I was inspired by the beautiful pictures in this thread to get one. At first was in considering getting the Canon 50mm f/1.4 but decided to get this one..

are there people out there who use this as their main lens?

is it not wide enough if you only had one lens to bring out of your house?

backpacking friendly? or a uwa lens is a more recomended lens to go backpacking with? (only 1 lens = less weight)
