Hi all, Im pretty new here and wanting to send my regards to all. Early chinese new year to all. I just purchased the Sigma 30mm after reading many good reviews of it. Got it off from tin cheung. I must say, they are very efficient and fast. I chose the lower cost shipping option and i got it within 2 days.

The bokeh is awesome. But im not sure if there is any focusing issues and i ran the focus test. The focus point seems soft. Does it apply to all at F1.4 due to the wide ap? Do correct me if im wrong in anyway.

:D

The centre shaprness should be good even at f/1.4 for this lens.

Was your camera mounted on tripod for the the test shots? However, a photo of the test should give a better understanding.

Hi! I have attached the test pics.

F1.4 1/10 sec

F8 4 sec

F1.4 1/13 sec

All shots taken with tripod and remote. For the first image, i focused right on the face. Does it seems alittle soft? It doesnt seem as sharp as it was supposed to be? Correct me if im wrong. Is there any calibration fault with my copy?

From the test shot of the chart, it looks abit back focusing if you have focused on the text.

Soft at the the edges.

So does it means it requires calibration? It wasnt supposed to be this soft right? I have adjusted the in camera settings sharpness to max and its still rather soft.

doing this focus char need take note that the sheet is up right and center. at f1.4, the DOF is so shallow that a slight difference in distance between the side and the center, u will get dif result. :)

can share how much it cost to ship to sg witht he lens?

I paid about $550 for the lens and $40 for the delivery. =)

1st of all, is this 100% crop (zoom to full 100%, then crop it)?
2nd, sharpness and not properly calibrate (back front focus) are different. If it is soft, calibration will not solve. Try other type of test (like the battery test).

Mine is a perfect copy for me.

Most people don't post when the stuff works. What you read online is typically only from those with issues with the stuff.

Mine is also a PERFECT copy, i didn't even test when buying in HK. :bsmilie:

I had my calibration done today. It was really fast, about 30 minutes. By the way, people who ordered online frm Tin Cheung will have to pay the labour charge of $80 for calibration.
Mine indeed has a back focusing problem which causes the soft image.

The kind recep was explaining to me why there is a labour charge. Apparently, if u have gone to HK to get it for personal usage (Not in bulk like asking someone to consolidate orders) and its not ordered online, they can close one eye and waive the labour charge. Correct me if im wrong. I was told by the recep. =) Anyway, if you order online from Tin Cheung, the warranty card is not stamped. Happy shooting!

PS : Its really an awesome lens! ;)

hmmm can show some example for ur newly calibrated lens? :D

I agree it cannot really tell is it better... But thanks fir the info sharing on the labour charge.. Guess those who got a stamp will not be charge...
OT: your little giraffe looks nice :)

Haha. Sorry guys. I understand my test pics are not justifying. Will try to post some better outdoor test pics after my exams. =) Thanks Shen Siung. Only can use my poor giraffe as models.

Has anybody bought recently in Singapore ?

Need a guide price ...thanks

You can email the specific stores to get an equote or check out the price guide here.

From my experience it is cheaper to get it online from tin cheung

wow, they start charging for calibration already? Sooner or later i guess... i think many ppl brought in sigma lens tat are not bought from them...

Okay, still no time to get my butt out for test shots. Got this pic, should be clearer to justify the calibration i guess. =) Hope it helps!
