Well, a brand new Sigma 30/1.4 is about S$760.00.

Anyway, I just acquired this lens also. Very happy with it. Will put it through a rigorous field test soon.

hmmm i find it quite hard to believe that these two pics are completely unprocessed, just cropped, but if it is, wow amazing lens!

Just checked with John 3:16, the price has gone up to $780.

Yes.. this lens is amazing.. I have a nikkor 50mm F1.4 AFD and althougth it has different focal length compared to the sigma 30mm .. i did an intensive test and find that the sigma win hands down for sharpness at f1.4, the color is much better for the sigma too. However at around F8 and above the nikkor is slightly sharper.. i loves both lens especially the sigma;)

hi omega thanks for the info :) just wondering anyone has comments on the performance of this sigma baby against the Canon 28mm f/1.8? And if possible also against the Canon 50mm f/1.4 (which i own and love, but abit too long for general shooting) Thanks in advance!

Hi i'm new to photography. Recently bought a Canon 450D. Want to know if the Sigma 30mm f/1.4 is better or the Sigma 50mm f/1.4 for my camera.

If I were to get a prime, which filter is most recommended?

Also, what's the difference between 30mm and 50mm? 30mm can include more objects assuming you're standing at the same spot when using the 50mm?

After reading all the various threads between the Nikon 35mm 1.8 and the Sigma 30mm 1.4 over the past few weeks, I bit the bullet this morning and ordered the Sigma :)

hey where did you order your lens from? and for how much?

Which lens you choose would really depend on which focal length you want or need to use. Yes, 30mm has a wider field of view than a 50mm.

30mm on DX bodies is equal to 45mm roughly equal to 50mm.. I have both 30mm and 50mm and i use the 30mm the most.. 50mm for DX is better for portrait cause the viewing angle is tighter.. get the 30mm f1.4

Hi just to check, does any one try to recalibrate the 30mm at sigma before and how long it takes?

Might be interested to get from HK (a lot cheaper), but buyer is a camera newbie. So any focus issue will have to calibrate in sg.

These 2 pics are set to 'Hard' in Contrast, Sharpness and Saturation, that's why these are super sharp.

You got to leave it there & pick it up 2hrs to 3hrs later.

anyone can shed some light as to how to test camera lenses (specifically sigma 30 1.4)? what to look out for etc? will be heading down to get one this week

Shoot at widest aperture to ensure no FF or BF problems....

Normally the shop should provide you with the lens test chart to test out...(I got from CP and I was given the chart to test out)...
