hi is this lens okay... seems that its quite a good buy for the range
about 300 USD i think
To me, I can't tell the difference in quality between this and the kit lens, except the speed is slower. To me I like the Sigma because almost the same price but wider range.

This is only my opinion based on my way of shooting, please don't shoot me for saying Sigma 18-125 is comparable to Nikon 18-70. I still use my Nikon prime lens when I want to take good pictures.

Does anybody have a link to a early review of this Sigma? I am looking for a kit lense replacement, but can't afford the 2k for a Nikkor.

:dunno:

I been using this lens for quite sometimes...Is a good and cheap lens.

think he is referring to the 18-50mm F3.5-5.6 DC ...

Just checked with Konota. Nelson estimates the price to be about $700+ (which could mean anything from $700). :D

Wah lao...Im just telling him that wide angle lens dont need F2.8.Just get the normal 18-50mm can liao..relax relax! :blah:

18-50 on a dslr isn't wide, and f/5.6 at the tele end is slow. gif u a gd example. when shooting indoor with iso 400 stuff at f/2.8, one can get around 1/15 to 1/30 shutter speed, which is ok if u hold the camera well and shoot ard 28-35mm. 50mm is possible if ur hands are really steady. moving 1 stop up in iso allows shooting all the way with 70mm, more than enuff in a small room.

with the 18-50mm f/3.5-5.6 on a dslr, shooting at 50mm(70mm equalivent) would mean f/5.6. 2 stops away from f/2.8. that means shutter speed of 1/15-1/30 becomes 1/4-1/8, not usable at all, flash is needed. even if u can push the iso all they way to 1600, it barely helps.

This happen to me, when using P&S camera, I am able to get good shot with speed of 1/20 but with DSLR, due to the flip of the mirror, I found that at 1/20 I can't get a steady shot. Does anybody has the same experience?

BTW, still waiting for the 18-50mm F2.8 to be available in Singapore.
