Thks for the compliments!

Im still a newbie to DSLR. To be frank.. most of my entire shots got like more then 60% was discarded duel to either image not nicely captured, OOF, too bright or too dark. I still have a lot to learn to master the technique and skill... is going to be a long long way for me. :)

Gd that u r still in Japan, is a vry nice place to shot... Colorful scenery. :)

yes, but it's a working trip, cum looking after my new born trip..so stuck in the neighbourhood for this whole month, plus, I am also studying for a major exam...

too much distraction here though, online shopping etc...ended up also busy with headphones and lenses...

Oh that is vry cheap. Best is come with warranty. :)

FYI, i've just got the quotation for the sigma 18-250 in Taipei. It's around NT$17,300 which is about $800+ and MS color quote me $975 earlier.

Normally i'll ask for international warranty.:)

got contacts for cheap camera shop in Taipei? can send me?

I normally went to this shop at 台北市汉口街一段73号. Shop name is ING映象专业摄影器材. You can look for Steven, quite a friendly guy. Their no. is (02)23122028.:)

i wish the Sigma or Tamron made the lens with f5.6 instead of f6.3 at their long ends..
the hunt/undecisive focussing sometimes occur on my D90..since the camera AF system fully supports lenses with aperture <f5.6
so..what's the vote now? Sigma 18-250 or Tamron 18-270?
i'd rather wait for more reviews on the new Sigma

had a sunny day today finally, and also, need more experiment and reading..
my 2nd attempt with 18-200 is better...finally pictures are sharp..was so worried that my lense have focusing problem or OS not working...phew.

Here's a new review on Sigma 18-250mm. Interesting comparison to Tamron 18-270, Canon 18-200 and Nikon 18-200 at the end of the review. Do click on the "Blur Index" on the right and compare with the Index from various lenses.

I was initially very tempted by the HSM on Sigma 18-250. But based on this review, I will probably stick to my Canon 18-200 for better sharpness @ f/5.6-8.0 throughout the whole 18-200mm range as noted by the Canon 18-200 review "Still, the central portion of the frame is remarkably sharp, around 1.5 blur units at pretty much any combination of focal length and aperture. Stopped down to ƒ/5.6-ƒ/8, and the corners become much sharper".

hi bro, did you do any post-processing on the images ?

Nope, have to show original ma... but was best selected. Till now, Im still playing with the setting.

Rented canon 18-200 for a day.
In low light or white wall, it will hunt.
If u point downward, len will extend down.
Slow len. Most time, u are likely to shoot in f/5.6 with little zoom.
Len should be 18-175mm, not 200mm.

Bascially, no major complaint as i have expect those above.

The only thing i can't really accept is the so so image quality.
It is just like a 18-55 kit len but with extra zoom.
Probably, the 18-55 have even better IQ than the 18-200mm ...

My next problem is where to rent for tamron & sigma...
They may be worst:( or better:)

Best review is still by trying out yourself !!

Indeed, the best way to decide which lens suits you the most is to rent and try out ;)

According to all the reviews I've read, 18-55 IQ might be better, but the 18-200 has better build quality and most importantly 55mm to 200mm without changing lens. If you are not adverse to changing lens, especially outdoor, you should really consider 18-55 + 55-250 combo for better IQ and reach. But superzoom should give you more photo opportunities.

..

 since you are using 17-55 IS, it's normal that you won't satisfy with the IQ of any of these zooms
versatility/convenience is the main reason to get them..
i took my 40D, 17-55 & 70-200L during my holiday but i ended up using the Tammy 18-270 almost all the time
carrying several lenses when i want to go light is quite a burden..

the shots <100mm, unless you are using a magnifying glass and intentionally looking for flaws, it's rather hard to distinguish among the normal 4x6 or 5x7 prints..which pics come from which lens..
but in tele range..the 70-200 shines..both contrast & sharpness..
