Try Lords, got mine a few months back at $800+ (grey set).

Some of my buuterflies shots using the lens: http://s176.photobucket.com/albums/w189/wisdommind/Butterflies/

:)

Thanks, you must have been on a good run, my experience with Sigma is to go for local set, especially with the high variation in quality of the lenses. But I think I'm still alright with my current macro set up. Will look at the lens in more detail. ;)

Hi, can this Sigma 150mm f/2.8 EX DG HSM APO Macro Lens use with D90? Understand that D90 is a "F' mount cam.
And is it necessary to get a extension tube to attach on or the lens itself is already enough for the working distance?

Btw, what is the retail price now ;p

definitely! Works like a gem! ;)

as for extension tubes, since it's a telephoto, ext tubes aren't going to change the working distance much. However, imho, the working distance is more than sufficient for most critters :)

As for price, i'm not sure..but i got mine 2nd hand a few months ago for $800

Hi Daedalus, thanks for the reply ^ ^. You lucky man $800 should save alot then getting a new one ;p

OT, not sure if I make the correct decision. Beside getting this 150mm macro lens I would also like to get a telephoto zoom lens for normal usage range 70-200mm or 70-300mm (I already had a 28-70mm).

Since the 150mm macro lens is a one focal length lens so If I use it for general shooting like people, street, landscape have to move forward/backward to get desire object in view. If getting 70-200mm or 70-300mm better for general use?

haha, yea! ;) Couldn't afford a new one so i bought 2nd hand :p

and yup, definitely a telephoto zoom'll be much more vesatile

had the 150mm + 70-200mm for a while, till i downgraded my 150mm to a 105mm macro :sweatsm:

:what: why downgraded from 150mm to 105mm, any reason for that?

Now I'm looking to upgrade from 100mm macro to a 150mm and add a telephoto zoom lens maybe 70-300mm. Is this a bad choice? I need to consider wisely before spend the $ then regrets.

Needed to fund a 70-200
So i went for a cheaper macro, though i'll definitely miss my 150mm :p

150mm + a 70-300mm seems like a good range though  What are you planning to shoot?

Oic ^ ^. Heard that 70-200 nikon lens cost more then 2k++ :o.....

- 150mm macro lens for it working distance. Buy this and sell away the 100mm macro.;)

- 70-300mm for long distance shooting, like shooting animal in the zoo, birds, street people etc..

I actually had 18-55mm and 28-70mm and a 28-200mm (28-200mm very sick now, full of fungus  dont think can be cure) so not sure should I get a 70-300mm I want to replace the 28-200mm. Or is there a 55mm-300mm lens in the market? then I can sell away 28-70mm. So at the end I just have 3 lens (18-55mm, 150mm & 55mm-300mm) ;p

:bsmilie: can't afford the Nikon one sia! Mine's a second-hand Sigma 70-200 ;)

anyways, imo, I think a 18-55 + 150mm + 70-300 should be okay.The 15mm gap won't be a problem :)

Haha ya! nikon one is too..oooo expensive =.=....with that amount $ I can get a 150mm + 70-300 maybe? ;p but still depend on indiviuas requirement.

ohya, like to know beside getting the 150mm should I also get the Sigma TC (1.4x or 2x) to go with the 150mm? but not sure if this Sigma TC can also work along with nikon 70-300mm or not? (if it does!! wow :o then can save alots of $).

haha, don't think so :(

besides mounting issues, i suspect the rear element of the 70-300 is positioned too close to the rear mount. Since Sigma TCs have a protuding element....if you somehow manage to mount it, *sound of grinding glass* :p

you can always get a second hand nikon 70-200 f2.8 af (with the s) quite reasonable also i guess
