Because of the price I try to justify to myself the purchase because it might also be used on a full frame DSLR. This was also a question for this thread.
Where did you see the price of 1100 - 1150? Sofar I have been quoted about 1300 S$. I did not bargain yet.

was once quoted by TCW at 1250

what about the KM's 11-18mm lens?? the cost??

I Understand KM's 11-18mm lens is about 950 S$? That is about 100-150 S$ less than the Sigma. If the images taken with the Sigma are as good (that is the impression I get from some of the reactions) than the lens becomes interesting because it can be used on a film SLR and perhaps on a full frame DSRL as well. One of the reasons to post this thread is to ask if it will also work on a full frame DSLR. However I have not seen the answer to this yet. Perhaps I'll find the answer on the Canon forum.

How would a Tamron/Sigma 14mm F2.8 compare against these lenses?

well, based on current definition of full frame -- same sensor size as a 35mm film, i bet if it can work perfectly on a film SLR, it should have no problem working on a full frame DSLR.

unless definition of full frame changed to four-thirds system

I have answered that question on post #17

KM's 11-18 is $900 while Tamron's is $850. Prices are little on the high side as they are quoted by T.K. Photo. From a thread in dpreview, the 11-18 mm works with full frame film at 14mm and longer. No vignetting at this focal length. The price difference between the KM and the Sigma is almost S$400... I think I can live with 14mm on a full frame sensor if need be...;p

That's a good point. If I can use from 14mm onwards, that's fisheye enough.:)

Now even more choice,
10-20mm F4-5.6 EX DC for Konica Minolta and Pentax digital SLR cameras

Which wide angle lenses got best photo quality and least distortion?

Yupe! It's pretty interesting option. Cos u get 15-30mm.... which is super wide angle!!! Woah! But let's look at the distortion control and the price first... I think I'll sit and wait for like 6 months and either pick up a 2nd hand or a new one for a lower price. ;)

10-20mm versus 11-18mm, both APS-C lenses.... similar f/stop range as well. If they were just competing on focal length, the Sigma wins hands down! But let's look at image quality first... unfortunately, there are rather few reviews of these type APS-C lenses...
