Sigma 105mm Macro lens

Hi guys,

wondering if anyone of you guys are using the a/m lens? I find the auto focus on this lens horrendously slow and it hunts all the time. Just wondering if you guys share the same problem or is there a problem with my lens.

P/S: I'm using it on an F80:dunno:

This lens is well know for it's slowness..:devil: . Manual focus will be much faster and accurate. By the time it autofocus... ur subject already long gone.

EXACTLY!!!! I missed so many shots because of the AF!!! @#%$&%^&. And when it's focusing it's so damn noisy!!! Am always using MF now.

Surprisingly I find the AF fast and accurate for my purpose, which is converting negatives to digital.

is it slow and hunt when taking "normal" shots or when being used in macro mode ? , i was thinking of getting this lens as lens test put it very close to the nikkor micro 105

Hunts when taking to both macro and normal shots. I have tried the Nikkor 105mm Micro before (loaned it from a friend for a week) and let me tell you (in my opinion), the Sigma is no where close in terms of picture quality and AF. But I had to buy the Sigma cos I was on a super tight budget. Don't get me wrong, I'm still happy with the picture quality just that I don't think comparing it to the Nikkor is fair.
