I would thought that there will be distortion but the lines seems pretty straight - barrel distortion is not visible to me. Very good. :thumbsup:

Intensity of the Olympus Colors... as intense as it can get... without blowing (much)... LOL.

A different kind of PEN... through the X-Ray vision of superman... (ok, pseudo X-Ray vision) :

Something that you can do at home when you are bored and the weather is bad outside... just compile stuff and shoot them, collect them as a set and make arrangements with them in Photoshop and create your own wallpaper, or desktop images... cheers.

Process is simple :

(1) Flat lighting (twin lights or ring light).
(2) Convert to grayscale and increase contrast.
(3) Colorise, add blue to taste. (or green or whatever color that works for you).

Very simple and fun pseudo X-ray images. Something I read from a magazine and tried at home because of the freaky weather that dropped to 5˚C and ruined my plans for an outdoor photowalk. Duh...

Thanks mate. The colored images are not HDR. They are composite images in Photoshop, creating various layers of mask to tweak the colors and pull out as much details as I could from a shot from the aged E3. Also, I did apply a pseudo (pseudo seems to be my "in" word this season) HDR treatment via "Shadow/Highlight" function in Photoshop and again, pushing the layers and curves treatment (individual colors) to bring out the intensity I wanted to achieve without blowing the highlights whenever possible to retain this "hardcore" and "gritty" look. I like these kind of images sometimes. They work quite well with faded, old architecture. The original was quite a boring, passable image, but I wanted to give it a lot more life for I felt it deserved that.

For the second windows shot, it was merely tweaking the Fill, Black, Contrast and Exposure in RAW development to achieve this, and to control the Saturation levels so that it blows slightly but not so much as to affect the overall integrity of the image.

The last show was pure laziness, only playing with Curves and treating every individual color. Using Levels to give it the final touch to control and blacks and whites levels.

All done within Photoshop CS4.

Actually none of the shots took more than 15 minutes to do... some are under 5 minutes. Once you get enough practise, everything is almost "automatic". You become really fast despite the amount of layers and tweaking. It is just a matter of getting to the problem and solving it. Continue to practise.

One of the frustrating thing abt the lens is that once you miss the focus, it takes quite a while to get re-focused again. But when used within its limitation, it is a wonderful lens. The ZD70-300mm is one of those lens that I will never sell.

just shot yesterday. quite dull, since yesterday was very very cloudy.

although the sensor has been improved, slight increase in DR & noise performance in the E-5, i still reckon it to be a "good light" camera.

090611 Sunset in Dramatic Tone filter. Dramatic, yes, but not quite intelligent, gives inconsistent results. had to push fill light for the buildings for an even exposure.

My friend lent me an E-1 + 40-150. First impression...wow! fantastic colour! Since then, from time to time when I manage to borrow the camera, I will try to practise my photography skill...setting, composition, awareness

Finally, settled with an E-5 + (very well maintained by previous owner) used 14-54 and used 40-150. Now, I have something to call my own However, it was a very hard decision deciding between a D7000 and the No.5; why 5, you may ask. Well, beautiful picture to me is an image with beautiful colour and I still believe only Olympus can deliver that.

Still working on the 5 and hopefully I can show the best of Olympus...as time goes by

I did realised that the cape kamui image was not sharp...on closer inspection, could it be the kit len 14-42 resolution not that good...hmmm...
