German Trains, German Camera but Japanese Lens.

Tanar5cmf1.5 is a rather rare lens (less than 500 made). It has 7 elements in 3 groups and uses high refractive index glass.
The diaphragm has fifteen blades, and is perfectly round at all the apertures. (info from camerapedia) It is rather small for a f1.5 lens.
LGB, like Leica is of German origin and is a maker of large scale (G scale) trains. Their trains and rolling stocks are very well made & are replicas of real narrow-gauge Railways in Europe & America. Their trains run both indoor & outdoor & in ALL weather. Unfortunately, unlike Leica, it did not survive the current economic climate. In fact, all the EU train makers did not survive! :( This particular model, the STAINZ is my favourite and like lenses, it comes in different variants as well.

W-Nikkor.C 2.5cm f/4 LTM (forgot to put the matching finder in the picture) :)

Congrats! Got it CHEAP some more!

Your Nikkor should be almost there with your other recent acquisitions of 28f3.5 & 35f1.8! (Good prices as well!)
Maybe only need the 50f1.1, 50f1.5 & 135 to complete.

Got the lens almost a month ago.
German/European trains are very nice unfortunately, they just cannot compete.
Trix, Marklin, Brawa, Roco, LGB all gone! Very sad!:(
Even shops dealing with trains are disappearing. There are probably only 2 left: Toycraft in Adelphi basement & Orchard Toy Store in Hotel Grand Central building.

There is a 50mm f/1.1 on the radar, but US$15k for the lens, finder and hood. :embrass:

Time to upgrade to RC Helicopters. Move on with the times. Seriously, the German made ones are very good. :bsmilie:

Nice!

I wonder if they have grey steel lenses in Japan.

Here's mine

:)

Welcome to the Japanese poison. So much for "I will stick with Leica lenses" right?! Haha... Two great lenses to start off your collection.

The Nikkor looks really clean. The Topcor as usual in great conditions from Doc Poison.

All thanks to you ZoomP!!!

Next stop for him... Canon Sonnar 50 f1.5 LTM. A must-have!

Highly recommended. One of the hidden gems from Canon that don't get much attention. In Japan, you can get it for as low as JPY15000 if you know where to look. Otherwise, be prepared to pay 5000 to 10000 more.

Don't buy any generic hood for this lens. It does not fit well and may cause vignetting on more sensitive emulsion. A lot of retailers will throw in a Canon/Kenko/Walz hood that was actually meant for the 50mm f/1.8, which is much smaller.

Cheers,

A new addition to my Topcor family - the Topcor9cmf3.5
This lens used Aluminium for the first time in Japan.

After I tried the Nikkor 85 f2.0 LTM, think I'm starting to fall for Japanese lens.. Keeping my eyes close on Leica, and wide open on the JDM.. hahaha..

Nice Gear you got there
:)

My Yashica Electro 35 GX. Should have another identical one lying around at home...
