poison.

I like this lens!

how's the speed of 135 compared to 85L ?

85L should be faster considering its a f1.2 lens and 135L is a f2 lens.

135L shooting in indoor lowlight is quite slow (especially if u handheld)... i find that it is more suitable to use it outdoor especially in daytime.

i think if you talk about focusing speed, the 135 L is miles ahead of the 85 1.2. The 85 1.2, even the new mark II version is known to be a snail when it comes to AF ha....

i think he's talking about focusing speed, i think it''s up to individual la, some people say the 85 is fast enough for them, some say very slow.

used both before..

135mm imo beats 85L

ohh focusing speed wise then i dunno... i nvr touched a 85L before except 85 f1.8 :bsmilie:

but 135mm focusing sucks when comes to indoor (very low light).

I am using this lens in an indoor theater that time to do some recce shoot of the venue (trying to shoot the stage)... can't focus at all... even when i bump up my ISO to 4000 and using widest aperture.

the venue i am trying to shoot is here:

The above taken by my 17-40 at f4, ISO 4000 (handheld)

luckily i brought my 17-40 along, saved me. :bsmilie:

in low light..i always aim at contrasting area for better AF speed..

was referring to focusing speed, my bad there

85Lii is still abit slow when compared to the other lens, just wanna check out with the bruddas who've used both before

Actually, if I'm not wrong, low light focusing is same for both lah... You need to focus on a point of contrast in order to lock on, be it 85L or 135L. You can always use infrared beam from a speedlite to assist you.

AF wise, 135L should be alot faster.

can be too tight for yr 550D..i feel it works best on FF.

Subjected to user preference, I even find the 135L a little tight on the 5d. maybe spoilt by the option of the 85mmL for portraiture, I use my 135mm mostly as a telephoto of sorts in landscape :P
It actually focuses quite fast on the sluggish 5D system, and a used copy can be had for a good price.

Own both currently and definately the 135L is faster.

Actually bought and brought both lens to the recent sammi concert and sat pretty far away so had to do some heavy cropping. The 85L apprently as i tried to shoot at 1.2 - 1.8 did not perform as well as the focal length was shorter, hence the subject ( who happens to be sammi ) was smaller and also require even more crop :)

Ended up using the 135L with a 1.4TC and all i can say is the 135L is really really amazing. Even with the 1.4TC which gives me a f2.8 189mm, it was sharp!! :)

85L cant be used with the canon TC so never try :)

Cheers!

Bro,

Do you have any 135L with 5D pics to share? Am interested in a FF body but not willing to spend too much on the Mk2 so was wondering if the 5D meets the expectation?

Am using 7D BTW :)

Stitch of 4 with the 135L.
Though I am really not a fan of pixel peeping, I cannot help but to comment that the 135L gives great sharpness down to the pixel level at a very good price point.

Will a 430exII be sufficient to achieve this 2 pics in a runway fashion shoot? I am thinking of getting this lens with that flash. By the way, roughly how far away was this shot taken with the 40D?
