Overall both photos are pretty underexposed and the lighting very flat which kinda makes it pretty boring. I like the fact that you have made eye contact but next time try getting down lower closer to thier eye level.

I kinda like that flipping ears one more but would have worked better in a portrait orientation so as to give more attention to the eyes and also not to chop off the paws
