Hi,

Will like to ask the expert here or old timers,
May i know will turning on IS while shooting HDSLR affect the image while on a monopod?
I have a Manfrotto HDV561, havent really had much chance to use it yet!
Many thanks to all for any input!

: )

i'll say not really. monopods still allow movement around. ur IS might be helpful.

tripod is a straight out no.

why dun u try out and see how it works?

Currently, havent had chance to shoot using IS feature as im using my 28 prime to shoot most of the time. Thanks, sorry, sound stupid, ill go use my kit lens and try, shall feedback the results later.
Does that means, i should hold the monopod to see if there are some kind of vibrations on the image? or what i should expect to see?

Sorry for the many questions, NB here!
Many thanks for all patience here! : )

IS should always be used only as a last resort. Eg you shooting handheld in low light and can't get a shot that isn't blur. In such cases, IS may help you get the shot (not super sharp, but at least you get the shot). If mounted on a tripod or monopod, it should be turned off for optimum sharpness.

Well if i'm not wrong, IS looks fine with really slow actions and very slow panning. But according to a friend, they tend to render some ghosting when the IS is on during relatively fast actions and panning.

I'm really curious on this too.

Subject moving, monopod panning and holding it with one hand, the other hand holding camera and standing, all contribute to unsteady shooting. IS is thus helpful based on my thinking to a certain extent.
A tripod is a better solution and iS is not necessary.
