I will keep the D200 anytime over a D90. The feel in the hands are different. Others might have a different opinion of course.

well.. as a person who has worked on all three bodies i guess ..

1) D200 is an excellent camera.. apart from the lo-ISO, everything else is pretty much equal to or better than the D90.. plus, itll take a while to get used to the non-pro plastic body of the D90.. i guess the video feature is cool.. but the aesthetics of D200 can only be superseded by the D300 and D700...

2) D90 is plastic.. small.. will take a while to get used to.. and for a person with big hands is not the way to go..

3) D300 is no D700 but is a damn good camera.. bought one for myself a couple of months ago and have been damn happy!!! i guess D90+kit lens = D300 body only as per price.. so why not consider..the pro body and the 51 af points are worth the extra $$ if u ask me...

4) D700 is one damn good piece of equipment.. its quite usuable even at ISO 32K... so why not wait a bit and get this marvel..

hope this helps.. cheers

pp

thank for the inputs ...=)
think of the plastic feel ... i now abit sian liao ...
the D200 its ISO really very disappointed me .... I like FX, but D700 abit expansive if i get it as my spare body. D300 is more-less same as D200, only it ISO, ...

If you get D700, it will be your main body and D300 will be spare body. :)

Tried NoiseNinja or other noise-removing software? Shots with my D200 at ISO1600 look very useable to me after the pp. Of course still can't match the newer sensors........

You can batch process with NoiseNinja. It's quite fast for 200 shots even on my 3year old laptop.

Nik Dfine2 is also good, but need to pay. :(

thank ... will try try ... =)
but sometime noise is not a problem
cos with higher ISO we can go .. then we can set to the higher shutter speed, then the chance of getting blur pic is lesser ... =)

Let's face it guys... it's old tech vs new tech (old sensor vs new sensor)
Of course, budget comes in.. if possible, I know everyone will wanna the bestest..... ego booster (features used or not.... who cares)
Yes, like mentioned earlier, D200 high iso shoots are grainy above 800...... 'ninja' them :) - I'm still shooting above 800 with my D200.
For my backup.... I just got that little Ixus 110 :) - it will be with me on Safari @ Tanzania next week  (sorry E500.... hv to let you stay in the dry cab)

u8sing D200 here... You can control the noise using noise ninja. Also noticed the mot of the noise fall in the shadow region, so usually then try to expose a little bit more. I got quite useable picture from getai at iso 800. :)

wah piang, 32k :rbounce:

I had also "upgraded" from D200 to D90: A cleaner shot (and better colour) and longer battery life (I don't like the extra weight by battery grip) are my major concerns. And also, I don't own any AIS lenses...

TS, you should know your deciding factor better than us, we can only give you some ideas on how things change if you switch from X to Y or Y to X. We are (mostly) all right because we are in our own shoes, but not yours.

Anyway, I bought D300 after getting D90, haha ~
