since you have tamron 17-50, why not considering sigma 50-150mm f2.8? Combine with your tamron, you'll get a good pair of fast lens.
I have cz1680, and I must say this is a good lens that I will never release at least I got better lens like cz2470 (which I can say far away from my dream).

Yes, have considered to get the F2.8 double team but as my wife might be using the cam to take pictures of me and my son (since she can't swim....), so the weight of the lens is a major consideration.

We tried using tam1750 once at the poolside and she practically has to stand next to the pool in order to take some closeups....and kinda dangerous to do that...(dunno whether i am worried for her or my cam :bsmilie:)

That's why shortlisted 16105, 1680 and 18250 and thinking of bringing my son to animal farms, so these one-lens option is quite useful esp when u have to lug around kids stuff.

Although i can still hear the sound of cz calling for me, but wanted to make sure the "build quality" issues is not so bad afterall.

Probably i think since many paid so much for the lens, their expectations could be set too high for the lens which is actually meant to be affordable CZ for normal consumers like us?

Ask yourself what you need first bro. Speed? Sharpness? Range?

Since it's for outdoor usage, speed should not be a concern for me at least.

Obviously CZ is real tempting for it's sharpness and rich colours.

However, my humble wallet is looking at 16105 or 18250 which I know many bros have advised to go for 16105 for better IQ.

But I am not too sure if 105mm is enough for shooting closeups at poolside while maintaining "safe" distance from the edges?

Or we need at least 100-150mm?

The 16-105mm seems to be a quality lens which can match the CZ 16-80mm. 16-105mm will give you an equivalent range of 24-157.5mm in 35mm format. For a walk about or multi-purpose lens, both the 16-105mm & 18-250mm will do fine. If you are bring the lens to the pool specifically, why not just use the 55-200mm or the 70-210mm/75-300mm.

Yeah, I know 55-200 or 75-300 will just do it for me at the pool. But u know lah, thinking of 1 stone kill 2 birds, can use the wider side of the lens from 16 or 18mm when travelling....

And I do still remember a lot of seniors here mentioned here before:
"just go for the best lens you can afford. Buying and trying out cheaper options will make u even poorer at the end of the day and yet still end up with the one u are aiming at...."

Anyway, appreciate your advice....

You've said it bro. So it will be the 18-250mm then.

Yup, I just got myself a mint condition KM28-75f2.8 today (even the manuals and hood are still originally wrapped) from a great bro here.

Just can't believe my eyes when I saw the sharpness at f2.8 and classic "minolta colours"!!!

Initially wanted to get some other lenses from him but end up getting this great lens instead...

Now, it makes me wonder should I let go of my 28-85RS? Hmm....kinda spending too much these few days collecting classic minolta lenses....

I feel that 28mm is a bit too short on the wide side if used on aps-c cameras..

Yeah, that's true...Have to give and take loh... I suppose 17-50 is not FF lense then it wouldn't be worth buying in my opinion.. (Because I dun like APS lense...they are overpriced... :bsmilie:)

Good choice.. how much u got it? The sharpness is acceptable in APS... Good little gem.. I couple with KM D7D colors, this makes very good IQ... at least to me..

I got it at $500, I know it's slightly more expensive compared to 2nd hand market.

However, this unit is so new that I have thought it was only bought yesterday, kinda back in time feeling.

even the box, manual, warranty card, plastic wrapping are like so new!!! I couldn't believe how this brother kept it in so good condition for the past 3-4 years.

Anyway brothers here can advise how to keep the box, etc in good condition without it turning yellowish and sloggish? ;p

keep using it, and it may not turn yellowish and sloggish :D

maybe he meant by keeping the lens in the box instead of Dry Cabinet
then when going out to take photos remove the lens out from the paper box.
:bsmilie:

Still, the box will turn yellowish mah.

i thk the previous owner keep the box in dry cabinet.
thats why still looks good.

That's what I think also. Then he must have many dry cabinets at home or a damn big one so as to store his camera, all his lenses and boxes included!!!
