Hiee Thomas.......

Actually if one were to make a FINANCIAL STUDY........taking into consideration that you are an amatuer...newbie...

DSLR = Save money is NOT TRUE.

Imagine you are shooting average 4 rolls per month for a year with developing (avg $15) =$720

Add on the cost of a mid-range SLR body = $500
Basic lens totalling up to about $800

This sums up to - $2020

If add another year of film use will be = $2020 + 720 = 2740

This is the cost of a DLSR BODY ONLY!!!!!!!!

In Additon to that....This period of two years....you will have maybe depreciate about $1000 on a DSLR...........?????

Using Digital Camera have actually a higher OVERHEAD cost.....which basically includes...
- memory
- rechargeabale batteries
- a PC to download
- CD writer
- Blank CD's.......the list goes on....
(Ink and photo paper if you print at home)

So al in all......MORE $$$$$$$........

However...if you settle in a mid range-prosumer digicam the cost would be sort of equivalent to a film SLR ....

..... ;)

regards,
me

Once you have the DSLR, you will be shooting way more than 4 rols per month.
Bare in mind that the number of shots you make will be more, but the number of keeper will be less, and the number of those that made it to the final print will even be lesser..... this means you save money on the printing.... maybe.

But most importantly you will only print those you think are worth printing.

How does the G5 compare with Sony V1...

I think you should get an A70. When I sold my 990, I was thinking to get a G3. (I have a D30). After much consideration
I bought an A70 cheap and good save money to buy other stuff.
Canon should have put slow sync flash in A70.
If I want better control I used my D30. Is good to have the D series using the same battery and flash. But I heard that G3 cannot support photo AF assist. Is this true?
