Should I get a 16-35mm F2.8 MKII or 24-70mm F2.8 MKII first?

If u dont need the 200mm range on the cropped, u can actually mount the 70-200 on the FF and the 16-35 on the cropped. And if u need to take large groups of ppl during events, just switch over the 70-200 with the 16-35. 16-35 does give the magical feel on a FF cam :)

hmm if i already have a 70-200 and 50.

I will go for 16-35. (less or infact NO overlapping and have the option to go 16mm)
;)

If i dont have former (70-200 and 50mm). I will go for 24-70. No question asked.

But thats just me.

Only u can decide for yourself. Both are very different lenses. :)

Why 16-35 for landscape?

Sigma 10-20 with 1.4 TC gives you even more potential for amazing pics lol.

i didn't know Sigma wide angle lens can use TC.
16-35 and 24-70 can't be used.

I'd get the 24-70mm first, because:

1. The 24-70mm may be more useful for events, even though you already have a 50mm. I am assuming events take precedence over landscape because event photography usually requires you to satisfy other stakeholders, whereas you just got to please yourself with landscape photography.

2. You can still use the 24-70mm for landscape. Angle of view may be expanded via stitching.

3. If you are serious though, just get both lah...

For me..id say buy the 24-70mm and 17-40mm as an alternative buy instead of the 16-35mm.....

In the end I brought the 24-70 mark ii f2.8

Factors that contributed to my purchase is that 24-70mm is a newly updated lens... And yes the sharpness is at the top... Price wise also not bad... Thank you everybody for chipping in to my decision 😊

I will get the 16-35mm in the future. Who knows in the future maybe a new UWA will be coming soon? As the current one is already quite old.

Don't fix it if it aint broken....

But maybe Canon will release 14-24L or 16-35L IS in the future, but not without marking up the price by another 20-40%...

Why can't? Just multiply by 1.4? haha

Already rumored since 2 years ago IIRC; the 16-40 f4L IS is going to replace both 17-40 and 16-35 IIRC. Can't remember whether the patent is actually filed though.
