Short term course in Digital Video Produciton offered by SAE Institute

Hi,

I have heard of this 2 months part time course offered by SAE institute. Can I know of someone who has done this course and know their experiences in this course. For a photog learning to be a videographer with view to be a DOP, would it be a good formal starting training ground?

Hi Photographix,

I attended this course in 2007. It was a very good experience.

We learned the basics of how to operate a video camera (Panasonic DVX100), basic studio lighting set-up, how to shoot using a "green screen" background, how to shoot a scene (storyboarding and camera placements) and some basic lessons on editing using Final Cut Pro. All the lessons consisted of theory and practical.

It is a good starting ground for anyone who has at least some experience using a consumer videocam. If you have some experience in video editing, it would be good but if you don't, the speed of the lessons is gentle enough for a novice to grasp.

Anyway, the size of the class which I attended was small consisting of only 5 students. Therefore, the instructor was able to give more attention to all of us.
