From your first post you seem you want to get fast cash ...

You may think that finding a buyer may take awhile ,but it will not too long either ... maybe till the next weekend and can meet in town or some mutual place .
& definitely you can get a better offer.

But you cant tell the difference between kit lens or normal retail lens. Or CAN you? no idea haha. but mine is not the $179 lens. its the $429 lens. There's 2 different 18-55mm lens right? hmm...

Kit lens = designated lens that comes with body packages.

Whether you buy it retail or not doesn't matter.

Is there a $429 18-55 lens? Personally I loved the $100 version. ;)

I suggest you keep the lens really...

ts - its your call and your time. good luck.

60 bucks is just not worth the money. i cant even get a high-end SDHC card. well thanks for the suggestion! i'll try to ask the cash converters about the price.

im selling it because i can invest on buying the 18-200mm VR II. as the money can minimize my budget, why not? cheapest and maybe reliable is at main entrance of Lucky Plaza, selling at $1180.
So how much would i get if i sell to the 2nd-hand shop? maybe $170? i only got it for 3 months and the condition is excellent.

You can probably sell it at $160 here in BnS. The kit lens is seriously being sold for a lot less usually (around 150). And shops will probably not want it, since it will be hard for them to sell, so they might take it for a very very low price.

Blame it on Demand and Supply. Lots of people selling, not many people buying. Almost everyone has one of these when they bought their camera, why would they want one more? On the other hand, many people are like you, trying to sell it to upgrade to a better lens. It is not that bad a lens actually, but I do find the older non-VR version to be better than the VR one.

Cash converter will offer around $20-$30. Don't believe me, try it.

I believe manufacturers like canon package MIJ lenses as retail and "lousier" MIV,MIT as kit lenses...

You seriously think MIJ is better than MIV and MIT products? hmmm..

Will warantee make a change in the selling price? For example, Selling price 100, with warantee 120 pr something.

It should.

Just sell it in B&S if you want a better price.

The market here speaks for itself, when it comes to selling a lens to a 2nd hand store.

Yes.. it will definitly helps if u put in warranty duration. Another option you want to try is to in B&S, state that you willlingly to trade in ur lens + some top up cash to buy the len you want too... ;)

i've put up an offer at B&S already. seems like no one is interested :(

I didn't say they were better ... thats why i put the " "

But MIJ would cost more for the manufactures thus they retail higher than the kit lenses where labour is cheaper ...

Just to say if MIJ and MIT/MIV is same price you also will go for MIJ rite
but if price is quite diff i will go for the non-MIJ as you can't see or feeel the difference ...
