So TS.... after so much is said here... Have you finally decide which camera to get ??
decide what!! a lot of TCSS here man.. only got 1 model recommended .... the rest are OTT SLR or DLSR..
I seen the 200EXR in action before..... so i think that is a baseline...
i dun want one of those is because if i diving.. i want to be able to be 'willing to let it go'... if my life is in danger ... hahaha...
dun want to come to a situation of ... camera or your life!
do u also fire a few shots away at the same time...
hahahhaah
I think S90 with ikelite u/w casing is a good choice. Compact camera and great u/w photos. However, if you are on a tight budget, you might want to consider getting the Canon u/w casing instead. But then again, the ikelite casing is only about $100+ more expensive and you can still use it at 60m as compared to the 40m depth limit for canon casing. And of course, the build quality of the ikelite casing is definitely much better as well.

Do note the ikelite housing for the S90 has some draw backs.
The shutter release on the housing is very stiff a total reverse of the canon mushiness. I've released the spring holding the shutter in place so it's a lot easier now and definitely more precise than the canon housing.
The zoom lever is not a spring type like the canon housing. so it's easy to turn the lever and not release, leaving the zoom locked in. Then you'll discover you can't take any shots till you release the lever.
The gear in front of the housing is not a free rotating one. (ie you can't turn the gear all the way around) Rather silly design which means when changing some settings you're likely to get stuck sometimes.
But overall i still prefer the robustness of the ikelite housing.
I cannot dispute your points, but you may be pleased to know Ikelite has done some improvement to front ring control. They have change the gear holding the front control ring to a full circle one, You may now turn it round and round.. as many round as u like.![]()
Damn time for an upgrade! ;(
