If you look at the prices of these models at Amazon (NTSC models), the prices are actually quite realistic.

Not for the SD9, and PAL is always more expensive than NTSC by a couple of hundred dollars.

yes parchiao, I've just re-re-verified that the prices and models we're speaking about is correct. :)

I have to say this is really cheap! Panasonic's RRP was something like $1899 at the IT fair, elsewhere it goes for $1500 odd, so even without the warranty, it is really cheap!

There is no reason why a PAL cam costs more than a NTSC, it is how each market chooses to price their products. Unless there are specific reasons to pay more to get a PAL cam, at least for me I am happy with a NTSC machine.

Whether PAL costs more to manufacture or costs the same, I don't really know and the same for you. Unless you can tell me you handle costings for electrical devices and you have first hand insight, anything else is purely speculation. For me, it is not the cost to manufacture that bothers me, the ultimate cost of a PAL video camera to a final consumer is ALWAYS more expensive than a NTSC video camera. If you are happy with NTSC, so be it. For me, it will always be PAL.
