sorry guys, got to ask this very noob question cos i haven done a video shoot with my 5DMKII since i bought it last year march. but will need to do a video shoot for my sch assignment presentation (group) and the video will be about 15 minutes long. my maximum memory card is 16G only, is it enough? or i need a 32G?

:)

even if you do use up all 16G of your mem card, you can always dump out onto a laptop and start over right? :)

ermm try to do within one card... cos five of us will be doing the presentation... so its "auto mode" for the cam (no ppl to man the camera), need to know if it will run out out of space... else we keep doing the presentation without knowing haha.

google 5dmk2 video overheating issue.
in any case, you won't be able to exceed 12minutes of footage if i'm not wrong. it's a stills camera essentially.

thanks!

yeah agreed. your shooting time would be 12-14mins tops... but that's because it stops recording when the file size hits 4GB. then you've gotta hit record again.

so, 12-14mins at one go. probably about 50mins on your card? in segments of course. :)

Previous firmware updates never solve this problem?

DSLR was not supposed to be used for shooting >10min videos anyways. If i was canon, i won't release a firmware that allows it.

If users need a video cam that can record long durations, get a proper video camera instead.

thanks for the inputs guys! i wun be using my cam for the presentation anymore as one of my classmate got a video cam. too precious to risk my cam for a sch assignment haha

it's not a firmware problem... it's cause the SD card is in FAT32 which doesn't allow for a single file more than 4GB in size. you could try reformatting a SD card to NTFS and see if it works though...

and yesh. DSLR not meant for looong video shoots. you'll find yourself buying a new DSLR in no time.. burnt out sensor..
