Shooting at the sun

Hi All,

Jus wanna find out whether pointing and shooting at the sun will cause any damage to the lens or the sensor?

Depends on the hour. Sunrise or sunset is not so strong. Relatively safe to pointing and shooting at the sun.

noted. Thanks lots! Cuz i have done that twice the last few days, around 4pm plus, and i was worried it might spoil the cam if i do that often.

the camera metering will take care of the exposure unless u try to overexpose the pictures.

if you take the shoot with special equipment youre photo cam will not be damaged

i always try to frame sun in my pics, so far so good...

If you are using a DSLR, won't the mirror protect the sensor? I think what you need to worry about is probably your eyes.

When the mirror flips up when you fire a shot, the metering system should be able to handle the excess light. What you need to worry about at this time would be lens flare.
