Shooting a wedding. Comments please.

nice series there!

Your images look good with well exposed and sharp images. My advice for the next time is just to use one camera, in your case, I would just have stuck with the M2 with the 35mm or 50mm lens. Sometimes we rely too much one the camera to make a unique image, forgetting that using our feet to get down low or up high, or close or far will do more to give variations in the images than the different cameras. With less to carry around, to load and keep track of, you'll also be more in the moment and enjoy it the process more as well without having to be so gan cheong. Hope this helps.

actually, my strategy was this:

1 auto + 1 manual at any one time.

So in the morning, i used 1 auto (ga645) + 1 manual ( m2 + canon 1.4f)

In the evening, i used 1 auto (contax g1 with 28mm) + 1 manual (yashicamat 124g)

"Lesson No.1:Get auto focus. If no auto focus, learn to use Hyperfocal distance shooting ie. long DOF + high ISO, so that everything is focused without focusing"

Lesson No.2: Bring more than one camera. Because of film, there will be moments film will run out but the shooting can't stop. Hence the second camera is very important.

Lesson no.3 , standardise on the film. This is what some of the members advised me to do. So for all 135 format, it was 1600 (all arista premium/tri-x), for 120 format it was 800 for day (ultrafine plus 400) and 1600 (delta 3200) for nite.

I enjoy the consistency in your exposure.

Benji77,

no lah. although i used a light meter, there were underexposed and overexposed shots. Photoshop came to the rescue mainly in the contrast areas.

Ray, in general a nice set but I have to agree with CK. There a number of nice individual shots but there is that slight lack of fluency as you go through the entire album. This is probably due to the different systems and films used.

Bravia,

agree in general with your statement. shooting wedding is hard, even as a backup photographer. Half-way through the wedding dinner, i sort of gave up and enjoyed the food...hahahhah :) :)

Late to comment, but nice shots. I would say you done reasonably well with some nice moments. Having sharp focus is nice but sometimes the moment is more important.

Who is the guy in the pics kept on getting into your frame and shooting at you with the SLR on the Double R bra straps?

sjackal,

thanks for the feedback. that guy is the main photographer, quite good as well but looks funny with the bra-strap.

btw, i closed off the wedding photos there has been a lot of targeted spam and unwanted emails.

How did u meter with the m2?

How did u meter with the m2?

i wish i could say..sunny 16....but in reality i depended on my trusty Sekonic L-308 light meter. Unlike in-camera meters, this is a incident light meter, ie. you won't have issues of "back-lit" or "front lit" subjects.
