That's not true at all. Jpegs have been processed by the in-camera processor, and may be sharper than RAW file. Indeed, unless you've decided to select a negative number under the sharpen option, the jpegs tend to be sharper than RAW files.

What is true is that you are able to extract more details from a RAW file, since it is uncompressed.
 

Exactly. You have to tweak the JPEG sharpness in the cam to get it to be sharper than the RAW files, because the RAW files contain more detail. So out straight out of camera JPEGS without tweaking aren't sharper.

You initial comment wasn't specific, it causes confusion.

there are compressed RAW and uncompressed RAW, and your "uncompressed" is actually referring to "unprocessed"
